What is this "gay lifestyle" I keep hearing about?

I won't be able to give you the answer that you're looking for because there isn't a gay lifestyle. It's just like the 'heterosexual' lifestyle. We work, we spend time with our families, we clean our homes, we go shopping for groceries and watch movies. We're intimate with our partners, we have secrets, we bleed (red blood, nothing acide) and we cry. Just like everyone else. So I can't figure how where a 'gay lifestyle' figures into what I've just said above.

Thank you! How can something be a lifestyle specific to one orientation if both orientations are doing it? And if there is no difference, then why do bigots keep saying it? Is it because they think that by implying that there's some super-secret dirty gay agenda that it will keep people divided and keep people thinking that homosexuals are immoral?

So it's largely a political thing. I keep hearing the phrase in religious discussions. Where did it start, do you think?

Now that's a good question. I have no idea where it started but I've noticed I definitely hear it more in religious discussions.

I don't understand that either. We do the same things heterosexuals do. We love each other and our families, be they straight, gay or whatever. We shop. We eat. We work. The only difference is that we worry about getting beaten up more regularly then they do, hardly a bonus.

I can't think of a single thing gay people do that straight people don't also do, except they get noticed for doing these things simply because they're gay. As my friend put it "I got pulled over for driving down the street while under the influence of being black." I think the same applies to gay people, that they get noticed and taken to task for doing the very same things that straight people do without thought.
I'm still waiting for someone to answer my question though, about what the "lifestyle" entails.

Just posting to get this in the "My Responded" box. There are many intelligent people that I have a lot of respect for that say "gay lifestyle." I can but tilt my head and look perplexed.
Cor, this being laid up in bed is doing wonders for my MyLot earnings... Keep posting the controversial topics people! lol

I'm sorry to hear you're laid up. When I sprained my ankle a month ago I had use of my laptop and also noticed my earnings increase while I was lying there. I hope you're okay, and I hope this topic brings you back as I find your responses thoughtful and interesting.

Aw, thank you kindly.
It's just a broken toe (read smashed at the joint... I fell down a manhole), but I live at the top of 5 flights of stairs and my job involves running up and down stairs all day... so I'm not going anywhere except the kitchen and the loo.
Ooh, ankle breaks... had a few ankle injuries including torn tendons (some higher power seems to dislike my feet) and they've never gone away completely.
Anyway, back to that 'gay lifestyle' and lack of answers... Maybe it's something us dirty lefties can't see... maybe it's a secret and if straight liberals find out they'll instantly start doing whatever it is and become gay!

Ouchie! I'd rather have a sprained ankle than a busted toe. The day before yesterday I re-sprained the same ankle I injured a month ago, although not as bad. I'm limping, but at least I didn't have to go in for xrays this time. Since a big part of my job is walking, it's a pain in the rear.
I guess the lifestyle thing is a big secret, as no one is responding besides people who can't figure it out either. I've been in discussions about gay marriage and asked the question but no one ever seems to be able to give me a real answer about what exactly the lifestyle entails.
