What do you do with your left over bread bags?

I have been trying to save bread bags, but I don't know what I would do with them. Any ideas?

I use them to pick up the dog poo in the yard. Of course, if you don't have a dog, this isn't really a useful tip.

I suppose you could always go out and pick up someone else's dog poo if you were really keen to use them up

My grandma used to save bread bags. She used them for her homemade bread naturally. Other uses included as an outer wrapper for frozen foods, loose crayon holders, box filler (this was before foam peanuts), shelf liner and waste bag. I used to blow them up and pop them to drive my grandma nuts.

If you like making homemade bread or rolls you could always save them and put your homemade bread into them. It is great for storage. If you went that route I'd only save them and use them a few times before getting rid of them though. I wouldn't want to keep them too long. You could also store art supplies, craft supplies or stuff you use around the house in them.

If you have a kid in school, the art teacher may appreciate to get them. You can also use them instead of plastic sandwich/quart/gallon bags for storage. And of course you can always put them into the recycling bin.

I have never thought about saving them but I guess you could keep them and put fresh homemade bread in it.

I don't have bread bags as I buy rolls loose and recycle carrier bags to bring them home in. However, I do save the plastic bags that fruit comes in sometimes, and they are much the same. I keep them in the kitchen and there's always a use for them. I don't buy cling film type wrap, so I use the bags to put open packets of cheese or meat in before I put them in the fridge. I use them to put around open packets of biscuits and similar to stop them from going stale too. It seems ridiculous to damage the planet further and my bank balance to buy wrap when these are going in the bin! I also use them to put seeds in, or to put veg in which I'm picking from the garden and giving to friends. Soemtimes I will slip one over my hand to use as protection if I'm having to stick my hand somewhere yukky or collect up dog poo. Around here it is common for people to recycle plastic bags of all sorts and you will often see them on the washing lines after having been rinsed out.

From time to time, my wife has used them for putting sandwiches in my lunch. I usually take three sandwiches as I work a 12 hour shift and all three fit in that bag rather nicely.
