Well, since you are all an incoming freshmen in your class, everyone would most probably be feeling the same thing. It would take a while to get to know everyone as well as get to know those that you can hang out with.
On my college days, I use to go straight home after classes since I had no one to hang out with during my first few weeks. Then as things came by, I started to distinguish groupings within our class. I use to belong to a group myself, we were all guys since most of our class was dominated by women. I think 5% among us in class were all guys.
I was just myself along with those people I hung out as well as to my other classmates. I really didn't have to be someone that I wasn't. I was open to where I came from and straightened out their wrong impressions as they did to my impressions to them as well.
Like what the other participants have already stated in regards with your discussion, just be yourself.

Exactly what I felt when I first entered college!! Put on your best dress or jeans or whatever it is you youngsters are wearing nowadays, and that's it..The rest is just be yourself..You're there to study and if they dont' like you at first..dont mind them..Anyway, the expression "first impression lasts" doesnt matter anymore..I think you'll make it..you seemed like a nice young woman...soon, boys will be tailing you...enjoy the rest of the vacation..

Real friends accept you for what you are and not for what they expect you to be.
Just simply say yes if you want it and no if you do not want it.
Do not be overly concern on what people think or say about you.
May the Lord bless you with a great college life!

Be yourself and don't give in to peer pressure. Be your own person. People respect that. You'll thank yourself later for it.
