Alfred my kitten is home!

Australia
May 24, 2008 9:59pm CST
I finally brought Alfred home today. He has a big burn on his head that is now scabbing over and his tongue is still a little bit ulcerated but the good news is that his eye didn't begin to ulcerate so we don't have to remove his eye! He looks horrible the poor little thing but he is happy and back to his old playful self. He will have to have eye drops and pain killers a few times a day as well as a couple sessions of nebulising each day. When I get my camera back I'll take a photo to show everyone my baby's new face. (only a mother could love that scabby little head!)

What a relief when I read your post coffee! I'm so glad that Alfred is going to be ok and that he wont lose his eye after all. Sounds like he still has a way to go yet to make a complete and full recovery, but now that he's home with you, I'm sure he will improve quickly with your TLC. Please send in a pic of him as soon as you can, and give him a cuddle from me!

Aww Hon So glad he is home, poor little guy, all in all I think he is a pretty dang lucky little fella. I know you will take care of him and follow the vets orders... Now many you need to kitten proof your home, they are as bad as toddles getting into everything.

Aw, I'm glad he is back and going to be OK. It scares the fire out of me when my pets have been injured before. When Sherlock shows signs of just being a little bit sluggish, I start to worry. So having something as bad as what happened to Alfred occur to Sherlock, I'd be a mess.

Well I am quite sorry to hear this update of Alfred. But it's seems that it's better than you have predicted before. Just hope it can recover as soon as possible so that it can play joyfully without the pain. Good luck to Alfred.

Hi coffeeshot, I reckon it's a miracle some of these little clowns actually survive beyond kitten-hood. I read a story years ago about a kitten that stalked the fire in the fireplace, and it's owner didn't pay any attention until she heard the kitten scream. The mad thing had jumped into the fireplace to catch the fire, and promptly shot up the chimney with a resounding squeak! It survived the experience, but what a way to learn...

Hobo - Our ugly boy
That's not so, Hobo was ugly but everyone said he was so ugly he was cute. One of our friends' said he reminded her of the Simon and Garfunkel song "The Boxer." The lyric that reminded her of him was: "every glove that laid him down or cut him 'til he cried out in his anger and his shame."
