I agree! I actually read the book before I saw the movie in 6th grade. My teacher helped me with the vocabulary and he would read excerps to the class now and then to get them interested. I have several copies of the book and the screen play. Of course I loved the movie when I saw it the first time (and every time after too!) I have dolls and a whole 2 shelves of my dining room hutch filled with memorabelia, even tv guides with different characters from the movie on it!

I agree wholeheartedly! I remember when I saw it for the first time. I was mesmerized! Not only the costumes and actors, but the sets were totally awesome! I learned a bit about behind-the-scenes and it was very interesting, the way they put this entire thing together. I read the book and was somewhat disappointed that the movie left so much out, but I suppose they just didn't have the time to squeeze these things in. The movie was long enough as it was!

I've been looking for a copy of this film in DVD but no available already. This is a classic film and had been receiving nice feedbacks and reviews so this is worth watching. But it can't be considered as Best Picture of all time because opinions and reviews varied. So far only Citizen Kane and Casablanca are consistent in almost all critics reviews as best films of all time.

I wouldn´t say that it´s the BEST picture ever, but it surely is a wonderful picture that has managed to stay modern in spite of time. The actors were incredible but the most important thing in the movies is how they manage to portray the South at the time of the Civil War.
I have seen it, maybe 10 times. The first time my mother took me. The last time I took it to see it with my grandaughter. It´s a pity they don´t put it at a cinema anymore. I think it losses a lot seeing it in TV as it´s an epic film with scenes whwere there are many people.
