It's not just Coke and Pepsi either. A few months back in the UK there was a huge report about regular soft drinks such as lemon and orange squash containing harmful ingredients that, in high quantities, can cause certain types of cancer. It was found that certain soft drinks, mostly in America, are really high in these substances and quite a few drinks were taken off the shelves and recalled in supermarkets. It makes you wonder doesn't it what manufacturers get away with. As a consumer you trust a big name such as Coca Cola and Pepsi but I guess we never really think twice about what sort of toxins they are poisoning us with!! So yes, in answer to your question I think these sort of drinks should be banned until there is some sort of procedure in place whereby these products are throroughly tried and tested and regulated before hitting shop shelves!

Did you know, that eating barbecue foods cause cancer, because they contain certain toxins after cooking? Yeah we should ban them asap, as well as everything else that has been suspected to cause cancer. Tomato can stay, because it was just discovered non-poisonous 2-3 years ago.

Yes I totally agree with you. Nowadays it seems we cannot consume anything without a risk to our health, but I also think that as consumers we should be provided with all the facts about what certain substances in particular products can do to harm us. It is then a choice as to whether we eat and drink these products. However, when it comes to high profile companies such as Coca Cola and Pepsi who are known globally and have been using carcinogens, it raises the question about trust. I just sort of feel that they have conned us in some way because you just assume that these companies can be trusted where in actual fact they are making their drinks taste good based on using chemicals that are dangerous. I just think its wrong.

Absolutely! Couldn't agree more. Thats exactly what I was trying to say - you just feel duped because you trust big names like Coca Cola and Pepsi and dont think twice that there could be harmful chemicals in their drinks - you trust them and thats scary!

Hi there 4everaju! I think these companies should take responsibility for their actions about the product that they sell. I mean some of these people have teeth and gum problems from drinking this stuff!

PS- In this day and age EVERYTHING is bad for you. Besides anything is bad for you in large quantities, even food. Should we ban food, just because obese people dont know when to say stop?

I dont think pepsi or coke should be banned. The reason why they got banned is because in kerala the communist government is in power and they are totally against multinationals. Unlike the west bengal communist party. the communist party in kerala is not well educated. Pesticide content has nothing to do with banning pepsi or coke

I really think you need to be more specific...what harmful ingredients make them poison?
Many things on the market are bad for you, doesn't mean they should all be banned
