Can you imagine life without TV?

Ten years ago, my life revolved around TV. I was a real lounge lizard. I didn't have much else going. Now that I work online and have a kid, I just don't have much time for TV. Most times I watch my favorite TV episodes online.
So, I guess I can imagine my life without TV, but not my favorite programs. Television was just the vehicle for the entertainment. And, now I can get my entertainment anywhere, on my own terms. So, I don't need that big junky box in my living room, anymore.
How about you? Could you imagine your life without TV or your favorite TV programs? If your cable box was stolen would you be devastated that you missed your favorite shows or soap operas? How would you cope with losing television?
Please share yoru thoughts. Thanks!

I would give up my TV and radio and all music etc instead of my computer. This is my lifeline it seems.
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Personally I think the world would be a better place without tv where crime is concerned. I remember years ago our tv went on the blink and we were without one for about three days. Although I missed it during the day, the evenings were wonderful. (didn't have personal computer back then) we actually sat around and talked to each other. Watched the kids play and talked to each other, it was real nice.

That sounds like heaven! I wish my kid would watch less tv. Once our power went out overnight and we didn't have electricity until the next day. It was night time and we sat around and talked, just as you said. That was years ago. We should cut off the TV sometime and do that again. It was so much fun trying to entertain ourselves without the intervention of TV. Thanks for posting such an insightful and relevant response. You've really added value to the conversation! Best wishes!

lol, a year or so ago I mentioned to my husband and 11 year old that we needed to pick one evening a week and not watch any tv, just spend time with each other. My husband looked at our son and said 'Your mom doesn't like us anymore'
My son said he didn't have a problem with not watching tv, he could play on the computer.
So there I had it. lol

I dont think I could...as sad as that sounds. I have my shows that I watch on certain nights. But I mostly have it on cartoons during the day. My kids are still young and dont really sit all day in front of it. Theydo if they arent feeling well, or are tired. But for the most part they go on playing and occasionaly stop and look at the tv. My husband on the other hand LOVES the television. He has his specific shows that he watches every day before he goes to work. I like the noise, its just to quiet with out it, and I'm not a big music person. I like it...but I can never find a station that like. So most of the time I just dont bother.

Nowadays, we may said we can live without TV because we have computer to fullfill most roles of TV, but I still think have a TV is a must, look, you may not watch TV everyday, but how about your family members, your friend, your guests? I definitely think TV is still a good thing specially when you have friends or guests in your house, that time,TV can make friends/guests more comfortalbe. don't you think so?

I don't have cable for my TV. But I do have local channels for my TV. I often watch CW Philly channel which I think it is the best among other local channels. My favorite TV shows on CW Philly which are "America Next Top Model," "Beauty and Geek," and "Farmer needs a wife." I cannot say that I can absolutely say good bye to it, because there are still certain TV shows that are not available on internet. Therefore, I can not imagine life without TV.

I could honestly imagine life without television, seriously...because I don't watch television hardly ever. In other words what I do watch..I could live without. Now anyone else in the house..they'd be lost without their tv shows and cartoons and sports...and well you get the pictures...lol
But again me personally don't need television for entertainment, I'd rather do other things, online, outside, crafts, etc

Now let me think about this for a minute, no tv, hmmm eeek I could not live without it. OK so I hardly watch it, but I listen to it. I do not watch many soaps due to the kids taking that time up in bathing etc, but the ones I do watch I could not go without!! I would not cope at all, I just have my favourite shows and would not want to be without them!

Yes Tv is addictive in a way and i would be very happy if the Tv disappeared. It is because if the Tv is there it would make us spend more time on it which is of course a waste of time and could be addictive too. It spoils the overall mental development of children and if the tv is not there then my kid would be able to play more interactive games and learn a lot of things.

Humans adapt to their reality. I couldnt imagine life without tv but I suppose that if it was never invented that would be our reality and we wouldnt be able to imagine life WITH TV.

TVs are now part and parcel of us, we cant wish them away, they entertain and inform us, without Tvs this world would have been a terrible world to live in!

I haven't had my TV plugged in for over a year. I don't miss it one little bit. I spend most of my time away from home, and half the year I'm not even in my home country, so I didn't think it was necessary to have a TV that I wasn't going to use.

We have a TV, but the only time it gets switched on for a TV show is CSI (one hour a week... till I get round to getting cable... then it might be on all day!).
Our TV is used more for gaming and DVD's (and my massive collection of VHS's). I don't really like watching stuff on my laptop (too small) and it's kinda hard to watch anything with friends on a laptop. Plus, it's a pain if I want to watch a DVD while playing on the internet... the processing speed isn't great.
So although I can live without a TV aerial, as t'were, I couldn't have no large screen at all in the living room.

It's good that technology is coping with our daily life now. Imagine if you lived 50 years ago, all you have is black and white TV. I always watch TV when I have time but I don't spend the whole day doing it.
