Thyroid is actually a gland that is just located bellow the thyroid cartilage and does a various function in the body like iodine uptake and its integration to the body and maintain BMR(basal metabolic rate). now there are two types of thyroid diseases one is hypothyroidism another is hyperthyroidism and of course the hyper one is more dangerous. but the prevalent thyroid disease is hypothyroidism and need lifelong therapy..how much do you know about this problem...i need real people who have thyroid disease as a doctor i am researching on it and i need real data from the patient to get my research thank everyone for helping me

I have known a few people in my past who have had thyroid problems but I never did know exactly what it is, I think also I hear people say that being over weight is because they have a thyroid problem, not sure if that is right though...I hope you get the info you require..

I do Have a Hypo Disorder but it is caused by Radioactive removal in 21 sept 1997 Rad level ingested was 9.2. Now I have Hypo and can not seem to get this under control. at 100mg of synthroid tests showed a 6.14 level so there was an increase to 112mg and 2 mths later test rtesults show an increase to 7.4 levels. I know that the T4 is handled with the Synthroid but what about the T3. Should I ask my doctor to control the T3 as well on this issue. They have now increased my level of synthorid to 125mg. If my need information for research I would be glad to help and to share my medical charts. Terri terrileedy@yahoo.com 336-782-5261cell
