Times of trouble

Ok, well I made a post not too long ago about a friend of mine. It was about getting arrested and possible jail time. Now, if you were with someone who got into trouble and was probably going to go to jail for anywhere from 6months to 3 years with a fixed term of 1 1/2 years would you stick by them? I know the couple very well and the one who is not into any trouble said they really love the other and don't want to lose them. The only problem is if their spouse is locked up for a bit they will be unable to pay bills by themself. The family would help them out, but she hates asking for help. She is not close to her family at all anymore due to things that happened in the past. So she is unable to turn to them, but can turn to her spouses family. What exectly would you do in a situation like this?
