What do you think of Maxis using secuRom on their disks?

While I understand the reasoning behind the invention of this, I hate it that theives have to make it harder on the rest of us, opening our computers to viruses. My protection program will not allow games to open while it is running. So I am not comfortable with this technology.
What are your thoughts? Do you think they are going too far?
It pains me to say this, but I am only going to be getting a few other EPs for 2 and forgetting about 3 completely.

SecuRom annoys me. It's caused a lot of people a lot of problems. It runs in the background and ends up slowing down computers that are already slow enough because they're running several Sims programs. Not only that, the technology doesn't work. You CAN get around it and end up not needing a disk and making copies of it anyway so I find it pointless.

This is what I have heard and as I said, it concerns me. I won't buy any disks with it, even it if means not buying anymore Sims. Makes me sad, because its a nice way to relax, but I can't mess up this computer over a game either. We just don't have the money to clean or replace it.
As for getting around these things, I guess its going to be more tough to get rid of and a permanant install in your computer. Wonderful eh?
