I don't believe they are exactly the same. A person can be both at the same time... someone's girl friend and their lover. But to me, lover refers to someone you have been intimate with or made love with.

Actually ,I don't think they are same. In my opinion, a person first be a girl friend then a lover. Lover is more deep than girl friend in meaning.

Yes, i believe it can be...a girlfriend can also be a lover at the same time. You see girlfriend means a gal friend whom you can be with, share things with etc...and a lover is someone you can love intimately. Fact: you are sharing something when you are a lover right?....so it could also be both, a girlfriend and a lover. =)

It depends on the context because sometimes a lover could mean a person you are romantically involved with while you are in another commitment. So I think the two are really different especially in its context.

not really, i think there is a huge difference btw the two. You could have a girl friend without having any physical relationship with her,as far as a lover goes there is always a physical relationship involved.

I don't believe that they are the same. A girlfriend you need to be committed to. You exchange mutual feeling toward each other and sometimes, make a life together. A lover, on the other hand, there is no real committment. You do it just for the fun. Most of the time, lovers lead separate lives. You can be connected with someone with no strings attached.

I believe that they are two different people......but ocassionally you can have girlrfriend that is also your lover, but mostly girlfriends should remain girlfriends and lovers lovers.
