Toilet lid : Up or Down?

well we always have the toilet seat down and the lid up if you know what i mean, there are only 3 people in my home, me my daughter and my son, my son is not yet using hte toilet so that is why the seat is always down, when he starts to use the toilet then i am assuming the seat will be constantly left up lol and then i will be moaning!
