The hip-hop overdose

Don't you think that the hip-hop culture is a little over-hyped,over-advertised and completely over-used. Some of the hip-hop music made (especially earlier) was still good and catchy, but these days there is hardly anything original and one which does not feature girls with the skimpiest of dresses in its video. I wouldn't call this music...

I think mainstream hiphop is just awful these days. I like older stuff from the early and mid 90's and underground stuff. The underground stuff and a lot of the stuff from the bay area is much better. Creative beats and thoughtful intelligent lyrics just aren't a part of newer mainstream rap. I hate the new repetitive beats and someone yelling "hey...hey" over and over again in the background.

I agree with you entirely, even though I hated it in the first place.
I have a very wide taste in music, but hip-hop has never appealed to me in the slightest, and I've always found it agonisingly unpleasant to listen to.
The word content of a lot of hip-hop music I feel has done a lot more to damage the attitudes of young people than it has to improve them. The messages in some hip-hop songs may be good and valid (I have heard a few that are), but I feel the musical genre of hip-hop portrays such messages in a negative rather than a positive way.
