I cannot understand why people drive so fast when they know that they are putting people lives in danger. I am tired of these reckless drivers who don't care about the rules of basic driving. I am tired of being driven of the road because. some fool want to get home or to the local bar as fast as possible. Finally, why do they drive so, fast.

I totally agree with you, I have just passed my driving test and had my car for about a week now and i cannot believe the amount of people who drive fast or for that matter the amount of people who overtake me or give me filthy look because i stick to the speed limit!
they are there for a reason and that reason is to stop so many accidents and fatalities on the road.

I want to know why too. It is not like they are gong to get any faster to where they are at, except being stopped by a cop! It is not good to be in such a rush, that is how we get killed... Haven't they been paying any attention to the news???

Yeah, that's definitely something that I can't stand. And, it's not that they're just going a little faster over the speed limit, they're going ridiculously fast! Most people seem to be going more than 20 miles over the speed limit. When I first learned how to drive, most people didn't go more than 5 or even 10 miles over the limit if at all. Now, it seems like people feel like they should drive as fast as they possibly can on every road, even surface streets. And, if you don't go as fast as they are, they will try to hit you.
There just doesn't seem to be any enforcement of the speed limit which is why, I think, people just do whatever they want. But, I am also beginning to think that this is the new American way, just do whatever you want and to heck with everyone else.

People drive fast is they enjoy the excitement of speed. Apart from it, like me, is because I'm in hurry and almost late to work.
Apart from excitement, I think people speed just because they want to show off how good and awesome their car is.

There is difference from driving fast and driving stupid (and fast). These reckless drivers driving too fast at crowdy places or along the narrow and snaky roads, this is crazy and dangerous. But if the road is wide and in good quality, I think it is ok to increase speed a bit.

There's a difference between RECKLESS and speeding. You can drive very RESPONSIBLY and SAFELY at a high rate of speed. In fact, my father always told us that the two MOST COMMON reasons for accidents are INDECISION and going TOO SLOWLY.
I do my best to maintain the speed limits (Use my CRUISE CONTROL ALL the time!), and it certainly aggrevates me when some jackazz passes me, when they shouldn't. However, there are enough SLOW drivers out there who clog up the roadways and cause other drivers to go nuts trying to pass them. I had one just this afternoon, going too slowly. He even tried to block my legal pass by driving in the middle of the roadway (failure to maintain his lane!). I finally got passed him, but had to blow my horn at him while passing because he was encroaching upon my lane, again, and nearly side-swiped me! He was being passive-aggressive, but he was not speeding.
Some states have MINIMUM speed limits, and failure to maintain a MINIMUM speed is as much a violation as exceeding the limit.
Speeding can be dangerous, but mostly because it means that when something goes wrong, it goes wrong "BIG!" But most of the accidents and driving violations are, in fact, NOT related to speed, but other factors... driver error, distraction, indecision, etc.

People drive so fast because they cae more about getting where they are going, than they do about getting there safely. In today's high pressure world, people have their priorities totally screwed up.
