Just heard today that Barr is also going to be a presidential candidate. What are your views on this? Is it a good thing or do you think that he shouldn't even be in there because everybody knows he'll never get elected?

I am not familiar with Bob Barr but apparently he has concern about the violation of personal liberty due to Patriot Act. That's a legitimate concern for the American people. His voice deserved to be heard, louder as a presidential candidate.

Well yes he deserves to be heard. But that doesn't mean that things will change because he runs as a candidate. I just wonder if it isn't a waste of money because he stands no chance at all of winning.

I'd really love to see more third party candidates for all the offices on every level, and for there to be some really viable candidates, not someone that would be a spoiler to just give the vote to one or the other of the two major parties. However, Bob Barr isn't that person! I know I wouldn't vote for him for dog catcher! Of course, if you're very, very right-wing and a true blue Clinton hater from way back you'll love him since he was one of the leaders in the impeachment proceedings against Clinton. Annie

You've made a good point there. It certainly shouldn't be about trying to lower the competitions chances but about what they stand for. I thought your remark about the dog catcher was super!
