I have never heard of anything like this before. I thought that water was the best thing that anyone could consume. But according to an NBC news article. Water can be harmful to children six months and younger. Did you know this? http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24760916/

That seems pretty crazy to me. I know I never gave my kids a lot of water, but there were times I would let them have it. I guess maybe there are some mothers who are giving them too much water? There is water in formula also... very strange!

I felt the same way that you do when my roommate first told me that she had heard this on the news. But then I looked it up online myself and found it to be true.

Yes I had heard that before but I wasn't sure what age it was until. That why it is so important if you are giving formula to mix it right. It is ok to give them a little bit of water ... like a mouthful or two after a bottle to clean out the left over formula that may remain in the babies mouth and cause thrush.

I have never had a child of my own. It is starting to seem more and more complicated every day. I hope that I can be a very good mother.

I did hear that same article and was really dumbfounded because my son just turned 6 months old and at some time or another I have given him an ounce or so of water to help him either digest his food, or keep him cool in hot weather. I never gave him a lot and I generally don't give him a lot of water anyway since I nurse him, but I just had never heard that before. I wonder if it's the type of water - like tap water as opposed to baby water.

I think that it would be all kinds of water. I think also that every mother who has a baby under six months should speak to the babies doctor about their individual case.

I guess i am lucky that my 4 children was as ignorant of that as i was or i could have over-watered them. Goodness knows thats how i do in most of the plants i try to grow!

I think that a lot of this may be rare, because I do not know that it was known, for instance when I was a baby. Thank God yours survived. And don't feel bad, I don't have a green thumb either.
