MyLotter Friends Really ARE Great Friends

I was really moved and touched when I got a private email from a fellow MyLotter, who happens to live not too far from me. He was concerned and asking if I was all right, since there was an "incident" that occurred in our neck of the woods here. On Saturday, at 80th Street and Roosevelt Ave, near a local bar, there was a shooting that occurred and five people were shot, including a woman and all were innocent bystanders. You can see the article here, which was the one he sent me.
http://www.inform.com/Mid-Atlantic+States,Queens+County,Jackson+Heights
I happened to have heard about this shooting on the news myself, and thankfully, the day it occurred was one of the rare days I was home all day, otherwise I just might have been in the area to do some shopping.
So I thought his email to me, asking if I was all right was so incredibly wonderful and that he was concerned for me, and made me realize just how fantastic MyLotter friends are here and what a real "community" this really is. Often if I hear of some occurrence taking place in some area where I have MyLot friends, such as all the recent tornadoes I email them to find out if they are all right.
Do you email people if you hear of some incident that occurs where your MyLot friends are to find out if they are okay...do they email you to find out if you're all right?
Thank you ever my friend...and you know who you are

hi pye,
i am happy that you are home at that day, such news is really sad.
anyway, i am happy to know that you do found great friends out here and that they do show sincere concerns and friendship. i havent got any email from anybody out here that pertains to that but i do met a lot of great people out here and that makes me happy knowing that mylot provided me great sets of friends over the net.
i do asked some friend's on my list if they are ok if they are doing well specially if i dont hear from them for awhile and just to see if they are ok and find out what's going on.
takecare!

Yes it was good I was home that day...makes you realize, one never knows what could happen at any time of the day in any area. Yes, I'm so grateful for the wonderful friends I've found here and it really is a community of friends, isn't it? I do the same thing, if I don't see one of my friends here for awhile, I email or PM them. In fact, a relative of a dear friend of mine PM'd me just last night to tell me my MyLot friend won't be here for awhile as her computer crashed...and I was getting concerned about her, since I hadn't seen her around here since Thursday...so I'm glad her relative told me what happened.

You are one of the best here on Mylot, so people do care about you. You also one who asked me how I am doing in my most difficult time.
I know you are about writing now, but I am glad that you also find some time to stop by and always start powerful discussion.
HUGS

Aww--thank you pola. Yes, I did miss you when you were MIA from here...in fact I just emailed someone else whom I haven't seen in awhile. And thankfully a relative PM's me about yet another friend who hasn't been here lately...seems her computer crashed so she has no idea when she'll be back but I thought it was great that the relative (also a MyLotter) told me what happened...it's someonesmom whose computer crashed...think you know her???

Pye,
I'm so glad you were home that day and I agree wholeheartedly. Some of you, i may have never emt in RL, but you are my friends and part of my life. Stories about your trial, tribulations and joys help make the days more bearable and fun.
On an unrelated note, I stopped by your AC page and looked around. I really liked the article on choosing pet-friendly cleaning products. Even left you a comment...

That is awesom Pye. I dont watch the news very often at all for very simple reasons. I cant stand to hear how much trouble the world is in. It is way too depressng. I prefer to put my concentration on my family and making shure my kids grow up strong and healthy and to spend as much timewith them and my husband as possible because you never do know what tomorrow is going to bring.

I'm not really much of a news watcher myself, as it really does get depressing after awhile...killings, murder, ..like gee, doesn't the news ever give us any positive stories?

Your friend is so kind pyewacket.
I will send messages to friends who have not been around for a while and I must say coming back here, a little apprehensive after being away for so long has been great. Some great mates I have shared loads of laughs with said hello and it was so heartwarming.
The thought is always what counts and it is so nice when people are so caring!!

One of the things that I really like here at myLot is being able to meet people that eventually become good friends. It is really great to have people from around the world who shares the same interests. Moreover, it's nice to have some people who truly care for you and show their concern in every way they can. I may not always email my friends here at myLot but we do send private messages to each other. For the past few months, I have been working on my papers for a student visa and these past few weeks, have been very anxious about what will happen with my application. I truly appreciate the support that they have been giving me. They help guide me towards the accomplishment of my goal. Very sweet...

Yes that's what I love about here...so many of our friends can give support to us when we are going through anything challenging, and likewise we give them our support too--good luck with your application!!!

Oh how lovely that they were concerned and that thankfully that day you were home. I often PM people if I haven't seen them on here for a while to make sure that all is well, especially ones that are usually here daily and then suddenly aren't for a week. It is really noticable especially if you have notifications on. I usually know if they are going away but when it is for no reason I do worry like I would over my friends away from myLot. Ellie :D

Answering your question_ no I never emailed anyone who is in the path of danger. I think the numbers after my name have to look more like yours before I can take on anything of this magnitude. I don't know that many people.
mylotters are compassionate and rsponsive to my needs and I appreciate everyone on this web site who has helped me.
Those of you who email links are above and beyond the best of friends for each other. You set an example and provide insight for people like me who are only beginning to understand the scope of mylot.
mylot rocks.
