Prayer is a very vital role in a Christian life, but so many times I here people say, I don't know how to pray. I have always been told to pray like I was talking to my best friend. (God/Jesus, is our best friend!) It helped me when I first became a Christian. But do we really know how to pray? The other day when I was cleaning out my book self I found a book I had forgot that I had. Matter fact, I don't remember where I got it. The book is a must read!! It really has really opened my eyes and helped my prayer life. "Authority in Prayer, Praying with Power and Purpose" By: Dutch Sheets.
I'm going to share in brief a few points and quotes from his book. I hope that by sharing this, it will help you in your prayer and christian life.
One thing I have learned from reading this book is that the Devil has power, but we have Authority and Power.
{Directly from page 84} " Both the priestly and kingly dimensions of prayer can be seen through what we call 'The Lord's Prayer' (Matthew 6:9-13)
* The prayer begins with praise, an obvious example of priestly intercession: "Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name."
*The prayer then shifts to kingly intercession with imperatives: "Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on Earth as it is in heaven." The verbs "come" and "Be" are both in command form (imperative) in Greek. In other words, we are not only to request his Kingdom rule and Will- We are to decree them into situations for him. Kingly, Governmental, Intercession, Bringing Heaven to Earth.
* The prayer the shifts back to Priestly petitioning, asking for provision, forgiveness and freedom from temptation.
Here is a scripture to pray and apply to your life:
Then I will set the key of the house of David on his shoulder, when he opens no one will shut, when he shuts no one will open. (Isaiah 22:22)
May God Bless you in all you do! & I hope this encourages someone!

The whole basis of Christian spirituality is prayer, not so in others like Buddhism. Prayer is asking God for something. A holy man once said, when God deprives you of something and you pray to God to give that something to you, what you are doing is asking God to reverse himself and admit that he is wrong to deprive you. It is better to accept what God has given you, whether it be something or nothing and to tell God he is right. Concentrate on God and not on YOU and what YOU want from God.
