Do you tan during the summer months or are you a visitor to the local tanning booths...or use sunless tanning, or do nothing at all?
Since I am going south and I don't want everyone to recognize me as the lady from up north I did some sunless tanning using the Banana Republic with the color indicator so it was done very even. I really like the results.....so what do you do for your tan?

I don't do any of the above things you mentioned. I used to get out and lay out and when my grandson is here I am out in the sun more. But to go out just to get tanned, no. Tanning booths, no. Sunless tanning, no, the last time I ever used any of that it was so long ago and it turned you orange back then. hahahahaha
I am not a real white or pale person though so I don't need much sun only for the natural vitamins I could get from it.

I have an olive complexion so I look tanned all year rounbd. And I do not burn either unless I sit in a boat all day. But I can and have known to get very dark. I use nothing at all not even sunblock. I have no use for beds as I am dark already.
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Hi jillhill.
I live in FL and have a swimming pool. So, all I have to do is swim for about 45 minutes a day and I can maintain a decent tan. Still, I don't get as dark as I used to because of all the stuff about UV rays.
Is the sunless tanning at Banana Republic spray on? There used to be a tanning salon near my house where they sprayed on tan. I always thought I would try it once, but never did. I think I went in and checked the price when they first opened and thought it was expensive.
I used a spray on tan years ago when we lived up north but I don't remember the name of who made it. It was by Estee Lauder or Clinique or someone like that. It worked pretty well if I remember right.
Well, enjoy your vacation when you go south, jillhill. Take care.

Hope you are having fun while visiting the south, jillhill. And, maybe you are getting that tan you want!

I have pretty fair skin and freckles, so I burn quite easily. I will get a little bit of a natural tan from the sun over the course of the summer, but not much. I have never been in a tanning bed because I do not want to come out looking like one big freckle.

I only tan in the summer. It's actually one of my favorite parts of the season. As far as the rest of the year, I let myself go to a pale shade of white! I figure everyone else has lost their tan so I may as well let mine go too. There is something about cooking under the tanning bed lights that I just can't get passed so I don't go that route. The self-tanners smell so bad that I can't keep them on long enough to do the trick. Now that I think about it, I should probably go lay out for a while! See ya!

I do nothing and go around white all summer. I am so fair and burn very easily. I've had so many surgeries for skin cancer removal so I don't spend time in the sun. The last surgery was a dandy as I had to have part of my nose reconstructed on one side as a result of the cancer and a graft from my cheek. Plastic surgeon and dermatologist said it as old sun damage and warned me of being out in the sun. I tried the self tanning stuff a few years ago and my legs turned orange...lol I had streaks also. Then I had to wear slacks until the dye was gone. Wasn't worth it.

I try to avoid getting any bright sun, I burn pretty easily, and I don't want my face to look like an old catchers mitt when I'm older. Not to mention the skin cancer. I think the sunless tanning cremes are the best way to go. Otherwise, I slather on the sun screen, and hope for the best.

I don't bother worring about getting a suntan. I do use suntan lotion only to keep from getting sunburned. Which is what I would do if I didn't put anything on. But I must say since you said you liked the results from the brand of sunless tanning I may give that a try and see how I like it.

I tan quite easily so sitting out in the sun for a while does it for me. I have darkened skin so it doesn't take me long to tan. I always use sun block though.

I have used the tanning booths and sunless tanning in the past. I will be 30 tomorrow and in the past couple of years it really hit me that sun really does age your skin! With that worry in the back of my head, I started being a little more cautious with sunblock and stuff.
I am soooo pale that even with the sunblock I tend to burn.
I started using the tanning bed when I was 16. Not all year long but my friends and I would use one for a couple of months before summertime. It worries me more now that I am getting older.

I am a very pale English Rose as the expresion goes and don't tan or use fake tan. Living near the coast though I do tend to have a lot of colour on my face through wind burn really so moisturise a lot. I am terrified of using tanning booths or beds and in the summer use factor SPF60. I have considered using a fake lotion before now but knowing me I'd end up all streaky and orange. LOL. I am pleased to hear that you have had good results with this one though. Ellie :D

When I go to the beach I use Maui Babe bronzing lotion -- it works wonders! I used to go to tanning salons as well.
I've cut back on all of it, however, since I had skin lesions removed with pre-cancerous cells. If you go out in the sun or go to a tanning booth, be careful and do it in moderation! Sunless tanners seem to be the way to go. If you have the money, Mystic tans are great.

I did at one time have a pool in my back yard, and went swimming all the time , and got a really nice tan. But now I no longer have the pool. If i go out in the sun i put on sun block cause i dont wnat to get wrinkles and cancer. I have a friend that lays out in the sun everyday and her skin looks like leather.

I don't even try to tan. When I was a kid I wouldn't tan on purpose because I either was pale, or went immediately to burnt toast. Even with sunblock there seemed to be no in between for me. : ) But now I take medicine that requires me to limit my time in the sun. Now I can't tan because it would be bad for my health. Real sun or a tanning booth.

I used to tan in the tanning beds and on the beach but now with all the warnings about UV rays and cancer I don't anymore. I have self-tanner that I use now and then but I fine that if you use it too much then it will rub off in some areas after and while and look really wierd.
