PayPal address to PTC sites - to MANY PTC sties - do you?

When you join the PTC sites and start collecting the pennies - they always ask, as you register, for your PayPal address (or Alert Pay). I don't like doing that as I don't know how they are - if the site turns out to be nothing I want, i can delete the account, but they still have my PP account. Or can I assume, well, I'd rather know for sure, that when I delete my account my PP addy goes with it? And if it does, who says they don't jot it down elsewhere in case I do delete the account, so they can hack in to my PP account. I know it sounds ominous, but I am really careful -if bad can happen, it'll happen to me. So...how do you feel about giving out your PP addy as you register...before you even know if you are going to stay a member of the site? Plus, if you are a member of many (many?) PTC sites, again, your PP addy is out there on all of them...what are your concerns about this? DOes it bother you at all? I have a PP account set up to a checking account and I use it ONLY for this PTC/GPT stuff, it is not a business account. So if you do MANY PTC sites - (mrsdiane, you there? if I got your name right!) how do you handle this? THanks for any comments

I have been doing this internet working for money thing for over 2 years and I have given my paypal account out to a lot of sites, and I have never had a problem with being hacked or anything. I think you are just being a little paranoid because without you password they can't take anything out of your account, only put money into it, so why would they do that if you cancelled your account with them. It is pretty hard for someone to find out our password as where would they even begin to look for it. We certainly don't give it to them. I think it is totally safe to put our paypal addresses into the accounts we work on whether it is cancelled or an active account. I used to be like you and be paranoid about this same subject, until I became a veteran with this money stuff and realize that it would be pretty hard for someone to figure out my password. And besides, I don;t keep much money in my paypal as I draw it out every month.

My motto is better safe than sorry. Yes, it probably stales me on things but I hear so many theft issues happening. I hear about the reoccuring charges, like on site I have, I upgraded for $5 - totally worth it, but next year, it will automatically pay it again (via PayPal) and will every year until I stop it. I didn't know this could happen. I assumed I'd do it every year anyway but now, they do it for me? I don't like that. SO this is what makes me wonder - if they can do it, who else can? I ahve an alert pay account and have not attached it to anything yet to see how it goes.

I never knew that either, but I guess you are giving them permission somehow. I wouldn't like that either. I guess it is like am automatic withdrawl on your bank account offline. You know, when we set up, for example, our house bills, where they are automatically withdrawn from out offline bank account. I would not like to have money taken out automatically as I don't do that with my house bills either, like most people I know do.

I am not too bothered about it, I feel saver handing over my paypal address to companies than my bank details. I have to have a lot of good reviews from people before I use the BAC method of payment as more fraud can happen with your actual bank details rather than your paypal.

There really is no problem with this as it i your email addres which most sites use to verify that you are real. Just be sure that your password for PayPal is totally unique.
