Do you save aluminum cans and turn them in for cash?

Almost all of us drink out of aluminum cans. We used to pick up all the ones on our road and turn them in at the recycle place for cash. I think in our area they pay .50 a lb now. The way the economy is we may have to start collecting them again. Have you ever saved cans and turned them in for cash?

When I lived in Alaska we picked up the cans and they sold by the lb. In Oregon they go for 5 cents a can. I collect them from my daughter, a friend and from the lady I am renting from. It used to bring in enough to purchase a tank of gas a month but that doesn't hold true anymore.

I'd love to do this, but it's not something that's available in my area. I do recycle my cans though, as we have council run recycling bins around and my hubby is currently collecting them for a solar heater project. It would be nice to have another source of income though, even if it were a very small one.

Yes I save all my cans, and cash them in about every 2 weeks. I use this as part of my Christmas fund, as it really helps with gift buying, and it is so easy to do. I also save change as well and use it for the fund.

I have not turned in aluminum cans for along time now. I remember when I was little and my parents would take pop cans to the recylcing center I always begged them to let me have the money I usually ended up getting it too.

We used to when we lived where there was a deposit for them, but now that they're just buying by the pound, we don't bother with it.

I have done this before. Now I usually save them for a neighbor. It looks like I will need to start keeping them for myself though, the way things are getting.

We've been saving them ,we just haven't turned them in yet. We already have a bag full so heavy that I can't lift it.

Yes, in my area, there is a truck usually comes once a month to collect used newspapers, aluminium cans, plastic bottles...When it comes, we call them to collect all these things for recycling purpose.
