My home PC is hybrid. No two parts have the same brand. :D However, based on experience at work, I do notice that HP desktops are more stable than Dell. I'm not sure if other people have noticed this as well. As months pass by, Dell PCs need more maintenance than HPs. They are noticeably slower but they have the same specs or very little difference between each other.

The computer I use today is a Toshiba, model Qosmio. It has special entertainment features for DVD. In the past I have had IBM, Texas Instruments, HP and Compaq. When they are new and on the cutting edge of technology, all of them are wonderful.
This is my second Toshiba. I like it because it is durable as well as state of the art. I am not the most gentle person and I carry my computer with me everywhere I go. Just about all laptops come fully loaded. You just have to decide how much power you need and how big a screen you need. If you use your computer for everything, work and play, and....you like to work and play at the same time, you want something that can handle the load. If you are only going to use the Internet and word processing, maybe you want something more simple. If you like to play games, you may need more power than you think. Some games require a lot of memory and disk space.
You may still be able to choose between Windows XP and Vista operating systems. Many brands come with Vista. If you have not used Vista, it may take a little getting used to.
Go shopping. Talk to the salespeople. Compare features. After you physically see the computers, then get on the internet and see what they have to say about each model. Look for complaints. Lots of people post their problems on the internet so you can see the kinds of things to look out for. Have fun shopping and good luck. Let us know what you decide to buy.

I have been using compaq laptops for the past few years, now. I have had extremely good luck with compaq computers, and I really love the one I have right now. I hope my computer will last forever. I love it!

Hi there! Our PC here at home is LG but for my personal use, I'm using Apple's MacBook.
I'm going to be biased here since I've been using Mac since I was in college and I find it easy to use, less worries of getting viruses, warranty's good and well, it just works straight out from the box.
But it would also depend on where you're going to use. Just search the web for more information on what laptops you are considering to buy. You wouldn't want to buy something that would be less use for you, right? Cheers! :)
