I love to crotchet and havent done it in awhile. So last night I started a blanket for someone. It sure felt good to be doing that again. Its very relaxing to me. I think we all need some kind of a craft in our life. Do you have a craft that you havent done in awhile? And what is it?

i like to crochet while i am watching tv because i can do two things at once. i used to x stitch while watching tv, but sometimes i make a lot of mistakes because i am not concentrating on stitching! so simple crocheting like a blanket or a scarf is easy to do while watching!

I love to work on crafts and do all the time. Right now I am knitting an afghan for our grandbaby who should be here the first part of November. Have finished 2 skeins of yarn and just started on number 3. Am doing 150 stitches across but don't know how long I'll make it yet. It's multi-colored because we don't know if the baby is a boy or girl.
I also work all the time on plastic canvas projects. Some are sold at craft fairs and others given to friends and family.
I never did learn how to crochet but have been told by so many people it's relaxing and easy to do. Am glad to hear you are feeling good enough to start a project.

I envy people like you that can do that stuff. I'm totally inept when it comes to any needle craft. I'll be anxious to see how it looks when you're done. I don't have anything like that I do.

I love crafting. I think my favorite and the one I do the most, is knitting. I make things for myself, things for other people (gifts), and I also sell some of my work as well.
I really find knitting very relaxing. Playing with all te different types of fibers, plus the repetitive nature of knitting is really relaxing for me. It's a great way for me to unwind after a hard day at work.
The hardest part for me it to decide what project to start next since there are so many things that I want to do!

Since I have had my last three children my crafting has almost come to a halt... well not completely but it has come to something that I must make myself do! I love most craft but the one that has stuck by me over all the years is beading, I have over 60kgs of beads actually (shh!). So I think it is somewhere between an addiction, a love and my craft! I stopped beading for a while promising myself that I would only bead when I truly wanted to, from my heart and not from my head. So yesterday was the day. I made a necklace that a lady has been waiting six months for me to do. Not my taste but made - with a little flair of my own of course - to her letter, strands of freshwater pearls dance around soft pink rose quartz with a massive rose quartz heart at the bottom. It is really luxurious and expensive looking, but also very heavy for my liking. But I have picked it up and admired it a few times since its completion and I am quite happy with it, lets just hope that she loves it, so that it will inspire me to bead every day like I once did.
Good luck with your craft everyone - may it keep you sane!

I love to crochet, too! I'll leave it for a while, then get excited about it again. In the last storage unit we bought, there were all kinds of yarn! I did sell some of it but kept quite a bit of rug yarn, so I have been busy making cute little rugs lately.
I also love to sew, but haven't done much lately, except for mending.

Lord Terry, I do not have a crafty bone in my body. My hobbies use my brain for the most part, except for digging in the dirt outside. Trying to sew a button on a shirt drives me bonkers.

Hey, I find such things as crocheting allow my mind to free up, so I USE my brain for creative things, such as writing poetry or stories! :o)

I am the same way as you. I love to crochet because it is very relaxing. I too have not done this in about a year. Ever since I stopped watching television. I keep say that I will get back into it, but I have not as of yet. Hopefully, I will start back this summer.

So, when should I be expecting my blanket, Terry? lol I don't really do crafts. Gardening and animals are my passion.

I haven't been able to work on any of my favorite crafts because of college classes and then having my daughter and her family stay with me for nine months. But with my daughter and family moved out and college out for the summer I can have some fun and get back to crafting!
Currently I crocheting a dressed cat for the fair, and will be sewing a dragon and a couple of bears to enter in the fair. I also plan to continue making the bears (which I sell for additional income) so that I have some inventory built up for the Christmas season.
I knit, crochet, make jewelry, sew teddy bears and my clothes, water color painting, sculpt and anything else that catches my eye! I have been a crafter for over 40 years and have found that if I don't do something artistic I actually become physically ill. A doctor friend of mine explained it to me that the crafting, in my case, is a stress reducer and that it works better than any medication that he could prescribe.
Crafters rule! It was discovered that children that are introduced to crafting and encouraged to craft were less apt to get into trouble with the law than those who didn't. I was fortunate, my Mom provided me with stuff to craft when I was old enough to understand the concept. I was sewing and baking by the time I was three, and it has been a blessing all these years!

I always carry a craft to do with me. I usually have mini teddy bears that have to be hand sewn stashed in a tote so that if I am riding with my BF or going to a doctor or something like that I have something to do so I don't get bored. I'm one of these horrible people that when I get bored I start doing funny stuff that makes everyone laugh...I was in a grocery store with my mom one day, and the checker was really really slow. I was getting more and more bored until my eyes lit on a can of ready whip, and I picked it up pointed it at my mom and solemnly announced "Put 'em up or I'll shoot!" I sacred the crap out of the checker and it is amazing how much faster he got us out of the store! Mom and I laughed about it all the way home.
I have been so into crafts that I am always amazed at people that state that they don't do any crafts. I often wonder what they do that is creative...simply because my life revolves around crafts.

Good Morning Terry,...yup, it's me, haha. Just thought I'd pop in and say hi.
I would just love to start crafting again, but I'm still looking for an apartment, it hasn't been easy at all. All my crafts are still packed and have been for a year. I do miss it terribly as it takes your mind off everything that's going wrong. I use to make miniature scenes, too hard to describe but lots of fun. Take care hon.

I'm only an adequate crocheter (sp? LOL!), but my old roomie (known here as "ElicBxn") is much better & more prolific at it. I haven't the patience (or maybe even the physical strength, now! LOL!) to crochet a BLANKET as she has, but I have chain stitched a few scarves & purses & such.
What I USED to know how to do, & can't for the LIFE of me remember HOW, now, was TATTING! It MUST have been simple; my G-mama taught me when I was 5!
I've bought books, but I can't really tell what's happening in the photos or drawings. I need to have at least a video -- but preferably a LIVE person demonstrate for me. I'm SURE I'd pick it up right away, & OH, the wonderful LACE I could make!
Sigh....

I crochet too, but i do more of the thread crochet like in making doilies or giant table toppers. I hate instructions but all i have to do usually is just look at a finished piece or photo to figure it out. I have not done anything probably since last summer.
Also I cross stitch, now my excuse for not doing this is more accepted, I have been having blurred vision problems for a while, and the doctor thinks its due to my high blood pressure, I am now on a beta blocker and i am taking lutin two times a day to help my vision.
I am also a artist, i do oil paintings, oil pastels, pencil, pen and ink, and charcoal. Due to depression its been hard to get back into it, even though i have a brand new drawing table. The oil paintings will have to wait until i can afford new supplies and til we move to a home of our own, and i get my art/sewing room.
I also sew, again due to depression, nothing. I have tried on a new machine i bought but had troubles with the bobbin winder on it. But thats another story.

I am back to my craft which is crochet I have been doing this for a long time but stopped when I had my son as I didn't have time but now that he has grwon up i have started crocheting again. My items are making afgans in the granny square form I make blankets ranging from twin size to king size & I then sell them on E-Bay around the holidays I get some good sales but other then that i pre-make squares and finish them off when I get a sale. Crocheting is really relaxing for me after a hard day at work it just keeps my mind occupied. I think too that everyone needs something that they like to do to relax them have a good day
