as to further address the stated question, uhmm yeah.. why do men hate it? coz its cheesy? sappy? mushy? and it totally negates your manhood to watch a tearjerker? i know it doesn't solidly pertain to men alone. some women may also be queasy about watching chick flicks.. c'mon spill your thoughts. peace out!

I think they hate "chick flicks" becuase its some thing else to compair them to. Men have a hard enough time with us trying to please us then to watch a movie where the guy says every thing right and does every thing right or if they screw up they fix it in the most romantic way. Men in REAL life don't do that. They don't want us to have any more ideas on what they should or could do.
Chick flicks are fairy tales with real people. They aren't true and men aren't like that. Its a fact that we have to realize it doesn't really happen.
Men don't need more to live up to.

it's as if the woman they're with has another set of standards they have to live up to. the girl would start fantazising and expecting, and asking him "would you do that for me?" or "why won't you do that for me?" uh-huh.. sticky situation.

Exactly. I personally know that watching those movies makes me think - awww I wish my husband would do that for me. Its got to be the same thing in there mind. OH my now shes gonna want that too!
We do want the world. Not saying we shouldn't get it because we should but, some men aren't "built" that way.

Hi there Eccentric!
I think that they find it boring. Some men are just not into these kind of movies but I know a few who find them funny and are okay with it.

yeah, maybe in general, most men do find it corny and moistly sappy. for those men who do watch them, i find it cute. just embracing their feminine side. =)

My boyfriend watches chick flicks with me even if he's really really tired from work (But sometimes, he sleeps halfway through the show. Hehehe!). I'm not really against these people who hate chick flicks. I know their pride/ego is as high as the top of the building but that's their choice.

maybe its the same question as "why women hate kungfu-movies"? :) but i think only the "macho-men" hate the so-called "chick flicks" I'm a man, and i think their are a lot of pretty decent chick flicks to watch.. for exemple: i looooove "the notebook". Other tearjerkers i like: brokeback mountain, titanic, nothing hill,..
Though i don't like the "teenage" chick flicks like "princess diaries" etc..
Men who don't watch these movies because they're afraid to damage their manhood are so ridiculous..

me, myself, i don't hate kungfu movies, in fact i adire them. to name a few, 'crouching tiger hidden dragon', 'kung fu hustle', 'the one'.. and others i can't recall right now.
yeah i also find it ridiculous that if men are to watch chick flicks, their mandhood or machismo would be damaged. sheesh.
