Hi,
Is ragging is necessary for new comer. In India especially in engineering college & Medical colleges this type of problem persist for long time. This is one of the main problem for parent as well as institution authority. In the process of ragging some student cost their life and some are severly injured. My point of discussion, is physical ragging is necessary?.

I personally believe that ragging is unnecessary. There is no point in it. I am a college of engineering student and none in all my years in college have i heard any ragging in my school. Ragging promotes violence within the school and does not help in the well being of its students. Before, when I was still about to enter college, we were asked to sign a form which states that we are not in any circumstance allowed to join any fraternity or sorority. Fraternities and sororities engage in ragging. Anyone caught to have joined and is still a member of any of those organizations will be expelled from the school. Moreover, violence in the school is not taken lightly. Consequence range from major offense records to being expelled from university. We have discipline officers who always keep watch. Roaming within and outside school walls. I guess because of this, there is less violence in our university.
Maybe in your case, any institution authority should be very much aware of any ragging happening. This can be prevented by taking action. We should all be taught to give right to life. To respect others as fellow man. Any institution should promote positive relationships betweens its students or employees. And we must all be aware of this. To not let anything degrade us to our truest potential, to our truest right to life.
