With summer on our heals, everyone is beginning to think about swimsuits and what they reveal. For those of us who could stand to loose a pound or two, which diet worked best for you and why?

I have to be honest with this. The best diet that ever worked for me when I was growing up, was a starvation diet. that was the quickest way for me to lose weight. I tried to watch what I ate at first but the pounds still stayed on me. I had to starve to lose the weight. As I got older, I could not do that anymore to try to lose a few pounds, so I started eating one good meal per day, as much as I wanted to eat and then exercised it off. No other diets have ever worked for me. I have tried fruits and vegetables and lots of water but still did not lose any pounds.

For me it has always worked best to make lifestyle changes rather than follow a specific diet. I lost 80 pounds in a little under a year by doing so. I switched to mostly whole grains (read your ingredient labels: wheat bread is not the same as whole wheat bread) and increased the amount of fruits and vegetables I was eating. I also made sure to eat in moderation, but I did not deny myself anything that I wanted or was craving. That really helped keep me from bingeing later. I also increased my activity levels, but would not say I followed an exercise program. The benefit of losing weight this way is that it is much easier to stick with long-term so you do not need to "diet" every spring to prepare for swimsuit season.

Wow! Congrats on the weight loss...that is truly a great acccomplishment!
I try to keep it healthy, but during ball season (my twins play baseball and softball) we often are forced to eat out. I am here to tell you that I can only eat so many salads! LOL!
I think that your approach is the right way to go...thanks for responding and here's a plus for you~

I don't remember the last time I wore a swimsuit...I was probably 8! I guess that I used that phrase as a means to get people to respond...and it worked, LOL!
I agree the exercise is much more important, unless of course one is on a diet of junk food and fast food and thinks that exercise will make everything ok.
Thanks for your response.
