Summer School

What do you think about kids and summer school? Would you make your kids go if it was the only way they would pass to the next grade, or would you not let them attend since they may not be ready for the next grade?

For me, summer school is a chance for kids to catch up and to prepare for next level. If I have kids, if they failed, I would let them go to summer school. It's not a like or dislike choice, it's a must.

I agree that it is a chance for them to catch up but can summer school really prepare them for the next grade level or should they still remain in the grade they would have failed if not for summer school?

If they were really failing I'd probably hold them back AND have them go to summer school. On the other hand, if they were just having a little bit of trouble and needed some extra help I'd send them to summer school also. Sometimes that summer break is just too long of a delay and kids forget too much.

That's sound reasonable and I agree summer break can be rough on the memory
