Seriously?! That's utterly bizarre. I've never heard of this happening. I can imagine some drunk person on a night out in a club loo doing it, but on a day to day basis it's really odd. Not to mention gross. They aren't embarrassed about it at all? That's so strange!

Come to think of it, my sister once ruined a phone by dropping it in the toilet but she never told us exactly how it happened...

I had a temp job when I was pregnant. Every time I went into the bathroom which was like 25 times a day lol there was 1 of 2 girls in there on the phone. After the first few days I finally said some thing. I just said look I know you need to make these calls but I would appreciate it if you would make them outside not in the bathroom. I mean really I don't need the whole world hearing me pee!!

One of my friends does this all of the time. I thought it was really weird so I made fun of him for it. He just kinda looked at me like I was the crazy one. The weirdest part is I've heard him talking to his parents and to his girlfriend while sitting on the john. Surely they can figure out whats going on. Its all weird to me.

It's gross and it's mentally unhealthy. If someone can't even take a few moments to tinkle or take a dump without being on the phone, there's something SERIOUSLY wrong with them!

It doesn't really gross me out, I think its wierd. I was in the restroom one time and this lady came into the stall next to me. Pretty soon she started talking, and at first I thought she was talking to me, I listened for a minute and I realized she was on the phone...I couldn't believe she was doing that, I never heard of anyone doing that. I thought how can she do it, while sitting on the stool, she was making noises and stuff, you know what I mean. I wondered what the person on the other end was thinking..lol.

see... that is just gross. It floors me when peole do this. I have actually answered someone whom I thought was talking to me from the next stall. She says "I wasn't talking to you" all huffy. I said "I'm sorry I am the only other one in here, I didn't realize you were doing your business while doing your business" UGH still creeps me out

Normally I think that it's absolutely disgusting to do that, but then there are those "emergencies" when phone calls are more important than nature calls, like the time I was on the toilet in the mall, and my mother called to tell me to get to my grandfather's house because he was ill. I'm glad I didn't miss that call.

Dizz,,,,, LMAO I refuse to take a phone be it cell or land line into the bathroom! My 13 year old sits on the pot talking to his friends for an hour at a time... I laugh at him and ask if his friends enjoy hearing him grunt and groan.

It is so terribly weird sitting in a stall and then hearing this conversation starting in the stall next to you. I guess people don't care if others hear their personal business. I don't even make many personal calls at work.
Now what about at home? Is it okay to carrying on a conversation sitting in your own bathroom? If you don't tell the person?

Hi There,
You are right...this does happen all the time. In fact I have been guilty of it myself. You are also right that it is indeed gross. I think it is a sign of how busy our lives have become. There really is no place of "sanctuary". With cell phones we are available...and expected to be available 24/7. Sometimes we forget that there arejust some spots where this is just not acceptable.
cheers,

We do tend to forget the rights and wrongs of the places we choose to do things. Since public phone/booths are becoming a scarcity, I guess people feel that anywhere is acceptable. We are often to busy to wait until we are alone, and since talking on the cell phone while driving (because we are in private) is becoming more common, it is too dangerous because we are all doing this.

Well, different people have different sense of urgency, but I prefer to do my business separately from making phone calls.
Who knows the phone that you bring with you and touch everyday has so many germs growing on it just because you bring it to the toilet.
Luckily, germs are not contagious through the lines... else who knows how many times you'll fall sick because you unknowingly called someone who's in the toilet.

Now a days I don't expect anything different from people that use cell phones. They talk anywhere and everywhere on a daily bases. The bathroom too now and that is weird but sometime people do the darnest things.

I take my laptop with me to the bathroom but don't really know how I feel about being on a call while and actually speaking to someone while doing my business.
Hmmm. I know I have peed while talking on the phone but that is because some people never shut up and I just end up muting their incessant babbling while I tinkle. Public restroom though, eww icky.

It's an unusual habit. I can imagine the conversation:
"Hey George, did you hear that?"
"Holy sh*t Fred, what have you been eating? My dog got scared and ran off!"
"Oh, it was some Mexican food. Ha ha ha! Was it that loud?"
"Um yeah...my neighbor came in here and asked if everything was alright, because she heard a thunderous noise."
"Oh..ok. Oh wait...here comes another....."

Ok, I must be weird then because I take my phone with me everywhere, even the rest room at home and I might have to answer it even if I am in the shower because I have 4 boys and my mother is 86 and I never know what will happen.
I have also been doing my business when people call and I end up making an appointment. But, no one ever knows I am in the rest room or what I am doing while I am on the phone either.
Now, in a public place, no way. I don't need everyone knowing that is in the rest room what appointments I am making or what I am doing.
I think that we live in too much of a fast paced world were everything in right now.

Yuck. Imagine if the other person heard you? Or imagine if you heard 'plop' and you dropped your cellphone into the toilet?

Yes, I think it's disgusting. Unless it's the hotline calling to tell you that the organ you're waiting for is available, I believe that a phone call can wait until you've finished doing your business.
