Now that I am officially self-employed, I need to find health insurance that is affordable (i.e. cheap) as my income level is lower than it was before. I think I have heard people talk of health insurance that you can get a group rate for even while being self-employed. Does anyone know what the name of the company is or a good website I could go to for more information?
I live in Massachusetts which passed a law last year requiring every person to have health insurance or face penalties at income tax time. I do have a couple of relatively minor but chronic health conditions, also, so health insurance is pretty much a necessity for me.

I am also looking for cheap health insurance, and the state provided health (low income) insurance (as far as I know) can only be received by females if you are pregnant or have a child under 1 year old.

I also live in massachusetts, Have you applied for mass health yet? It depends on your income but when I owned a restaurant my family qualified for it .. it only cost me 45 a month and it is excellent. You might want to check it out if you havent already.
The main office is in Taunton, give it a shot they have a website too it is www.masshealth.com good luck! Hope this works for you
