I Need Some Love.........

Not for myself! LOL Well not this time anyway.*pout* All of us here have our 'special group' of friends right? We answer their discussions, look for their responses in ours, and miss them when they seem to be MIA. As most of you know, I value my friends here. For different reasons and in different ways. Every one of them is a unique individual and elicits different sides of my personality when push comes to shove. One of my friends is currently going through a very rough time with her ill mother, dying mother-in-law, trying to raise through donations, the money she needs to travel back and forth to hospitals, care for her father and the other minutiae of daily living. She's been coping very well and some users here have helped her in astoundingly generous ways. I was speaking to her tonight and she is a little concerned that her absence here is impacting on her friends. I have assured her that we all understand and will be waiting with open arms when she returns. She asked me to let you all know that though she is frantically busy, she thinks of you often, is grateful for your concern and support and prayers and love, and that she will get back to posting and responding and being here as soon as she can. So to all the friends of our favorite 'Cats and Dogs' lady, she says hello, she misses you, and she hopes to see you soon. Now......let's show some love here people and not report poor sparks for passing on a message from one of your friends. Friends are important and in times of trouble, we should all do what we can to lend a hand. So what was YOUR last good deed of the day?

I have missed this one Sparky. If it's who I think it is, then I had no idea and I was just taking to her at the weekend. I agree that we should all show more love though. As to good deeds. I don't know. I don't think like that at all. I have probably never done one that I have had to actually think "that's my good deed for today. So now I can sit back with an easy conscience". I try to live my life without hurting or upsetting others. Is that good enough, or should I do more?

P1ke my darling, just seeing your name is a good deed done! Don't change a thing. And I'm not sure really if you do know CatsandDogs. I've never seen you on any of her discussions. But then, I don't know everything! LOL

LOL. Not sure about that, but thank you. I don't know anyone called "Catsanddogs" - I thought that you meant an English lady who has a dog that often posts it's own discussions. I'd hate for her to think that I was ignoring her.

for a friend? i haven't done one today yet. but yesterday, i gave one of my close friends a little trinket box which she wished to have when we went malling a couple of days ago. i bought it and she had no idea that i'm gonna give it to her.. and i personalized it by attaching our photo together taken during her sister's wedding. i also added another extra photo with a letter at the back. she really wasn't expecting to find a package in her bed last night. she told me the next morning that she was teary-eyed when she opened my gift. it was her first time ever to receive a surprise! she told me that of all the people she gave surprise gifts to, i was the only one who reciprocated. she never expects to get something in return but she was very very happy that finally she experienced what's it like to receive one. i'm glad that i was able to make her happy too. :)

Sparky, pass on to her that we do miss her and we are pray for her family members she is taking care of and that we are praying for God to give her peace and strength to do this, which He will. I hope every day that my love shows to others in some way. I really try to encourage others and be support to them. God bless you.

Well said spark and I think that anyone trying to get this post deleted would be a very sad and bitter individual! Cats knows she has my prayers and love with her as she struggles to cope with everything that is being thrown at her just now! As for a good deed , well I am ashamed to say I really can't remember - I DO try to help people around me in any way I can but I can't remember the last time I managed to do something practical! xxx

I have my good deeds for the month. Last month it was calling a tow truck for a lady after I couldn't get her car started by jumping her cars battery. This month it was reaching the Sara Lee strawberry cheesecake ice cream on the top shelf of the cooler, for two little old ladies in their 80's at the grocery store. I limit my good deeds since I still haven't recovered from the burn I received paying a bill for a couple of friends of mine. So now all my good deeds don't include money changing hands.

A wise policy these days. I don't really consider money changing hands for any reason a good deed. I consider it more of a 'I have it, you don't, here you go, I will now forget about it' kind of thing. So helping old ladies and caring for babies more than qualifies as good deeds in my book Cyn. So good for you.

Thanks Gabs. I hope things calm down for her soon too. She has only so much energy and needs her rest. But she's a trouper and this time with her mom, in spite of the circumstances is healing a lot of personal wounds for her. So every cloud has a silver lining doesn't it?

Does feeding my Cat and Dog count as a good deed? No pun intended by the way. Gosh I was unaware that she was having that much trouble... When you talk to her again please tell her that my thoughts and prayers go out to her. I sure understand her plight right now.

I liked your pun, but I don't count it as a good deed. LOL Your post however is! Cats will be following this thread and I'm sure in time will post her thanks herself. And what I put here is only half of what's she's dealing with, so all prayers and support are much appreciated. Hugs to you my Angel.

Spark, thank you for starting this discussion, for being the first one to offer love and support and for getting others around to offer the same. I don't know your friend but all humans are like a single family, so I really don't need to know her for offering my prayers. I only do my duties and responsibilities as a human and member of a global family. Your friend will be in my thoughts.

I went to the store to pick up some items and medicines for my mom. Then, I got my husband his favorite snack at (where else?) Dunkin Donut and brought it home to him, while he was working. Do those count as good deeds? I hope so. Take care, sparkofinsanity. PearlGrace

That is very sweet of you Spark! You are such a good friend and I am sure that you have been an enormous comfort to her. And, please send her my regards. As for my last good deed for the day...it sort of happened unknowingly. My neighbor's Aunt whom she was as close to as a sister would be, passed away unexpectedly 2 weeks ago. This weekend, I needed my roots touched up so, I asked my neighbor to help me. That, and I asked if she would attend a concert with me and she said yes, if we can get tickets. Well, we joked around and reminisced about our favorite bands of our youth and just had a good time chatting. Then, the hubby came home and we all hung out and joked around even more. Well, throughout the evening, we all managed to laugh ourselves to tears and, before we knew it, it was nearly 3 AM! I know! Shew! But, as she got ready to head back home, she thanked the hubby and I because that was the first time she had laughed in 2 weeks. We made her feel better and we weren't even trying! Can you imagine if we actually tried to cheer her up? LOL! So, I guess that is sort of my last good deed. And, it made me feel good because she is a good friend of mine and it pains me to see her down.

She'll see this thread and get your best regards straight from you and will appreciate them as much as I do. As for your good deed - that's the best kind don't you think? The ones we 'do' without even realizing it. SO much more satisfying to everyone! Well done you!

That's a nice gesture sparky, passing on the message. Even though she isn't on my friends list I have read a few of her latest discussions and hope that things get better for her and her family. As for my last deed, I babysat my husbands friends girls for the whole of Memorial Weekend, so she could have a break. She just had a baby boy 2-3 weeks ago and was exhausted. It was the least i could do but boy was I tired come Tuesday LOL it was fun though.

I think it's very cool of you to pass along the message you were given. I'm sure the giver is most appreciative. I haven't done a good deed yet today - I haven't even left the house yet, but yesterday I was at the doctor's and the phlebotomist actually gave me her umbrella to use. Her own umbrella, which she was most likely going to need herself later. But I needed one right then, as it was storming and a tornado even touched down very briefly a few miles away. I had no idea that was happening while I was still in the office though, I just knew it was raining. I was pretty blown away by the gesture. It seemed enormously generous. She even told me it didn't matter if I brought it back. I assured her I would and I have an appointment to go back in 2 weeks and told her I'd bring it back then. She sort of waved it off. Anyway, she had admired the lipstick I was wearing, saying that she always looks for that color and can never find it. I told her what it was, and what brand. What I plan to to is this: when I go back for my appointment, I'm going to bring her one of those lipsticks to say thank you for being so sweet. Funny, we share the same first name too. So there's a good deed that's happened and one in return that's going to happen. And- I bought the wrong ticket for the train yesterday too, so I ended up buying another one, the right one this time. I gave the other one to someone standing on the platform. That was a pretty good deed - I gave a guy a free ride. I do a lot of good deeds though, Spark. It's just one of the things we're supposed to do. It's the right way to live. It's my way and as far as I'm concerned, the only way. Accept the good, baby, and then pass it on!

Exactly nova - pay it forward and it will come back. I think most of us do good deeds all the time, but because we don't think of them in that way, we don't realize just how 'good' we really are. Sometimes, we just need to step back a bit and look at the bigger picture of all the little things that comprise our day. What an easy way to make ourselves feel good and raise our self esteem huh? Most of us are truly better than we think - we just need to learn to be less hard on ourselves.
