about kids going to sleep early

I read a few blogs about kids going to bed early. My kids do not like to go to bed early either. I did have my 3 year old finally trained to go to bed early and she got to where she would fall asleep on her own. Boy at first did I have a battle on my hands though. She pitched a fit when it was time to go to bed, but I would just turn out all the lights except for a night light and I would put her to bed. She would cry and cry, but finally I guess she figured out that noone was gonna listen. Or thats what she thought, even though I heard her the whole time but pretended to be asleep. She finally got used to going to bed early and started getting sleepy around the same time every night. That was a relief. Parents need this time to unwind and this is our free time to just sit back and relax!!!!
