Do you save birthday cards?

I have to be honest, I don't. The card is either a prequel to a present or it is the present. After I've opened one or the other the card gets tossed. I don't like keeping stuff like that, it just become clutter. The sender won't ever ask to see the card so I just discard. Do you keep the card? Maybe you scrapbook it or stick it under your mattress, maybe you're thinking you need to toss some right now, let me know.

I used to save all my cards but as time went on I had so many then I used some of them in craft work and then I decided to only save a few special ones from special people for the sake of a few memories...

That's cool, crafts are a great way to recycle the card and still keep the memories.

Yes, I save my cards as reminders that people love me and care enough about me to give me cards. It's a great thing to have when you're feeling depressed.

Reading through old cards, hmmm, never thought about it as therapy, you could be on to something there.

I save all my cards. This is my mom's fault, as I have seen her boxes of cards that date back to her engagement. I got the idea early on that cards were to be saved in order to keep the memories. I actually do not think she saves cards anymore, but I do. Then again, I tend to save everything. (Yes, my house is a mess. lol)

Cards can be saved from those whom we admire. Nothing wrong with that.

I keep a lot of my birthday cards. I keep the really cute ones, the ones from my niece and nephew and ones that have some sort of personal message inside. I keep them in a shoe box with letters and things that mean something to me. I just had a birthday a few weeks ago and I do have some cards that I have been meaning to put in the recycling bag.

Welcome to myLot. Most people seem to have a shoebox for keeping cards in and a heart to keep their memories.

I do keep some of them. Like my daughter's Christmas cards and cards my husband gives me. I really don't want to keep them but I kind of feel guilty that someone spent the money on it so I should keep it. I'm sure eventually I will go through and throw them away.

it depends who it's from or how cool the card is.sometimes i save them past the birthday, but not always. my grandmother used to save ever card from every holiday, and as she was a teacher, she accrued quite a few from former students.her whole bottom closet was full of boxes by the time she passed on

Yea I know, e-cards are the wave now, no wonder Hallmark wants to charge me for cutting down the tree and the ink used to write the recycled message. I'll make a protest sign out of their cards, HA!

I personally love cards. And I really try to keep them.Normally in a shoe box. I dont look at it as clutter because I keep them away. but I think it would be a kinda neat thing for my great grand children to find or something!

I keep all cards, no matter what the ocassion. We use them for projects, future cards, and scrapbooking. My kids always have some use for them. If the message written inside was personal and touching I try to save it for my memories box.

Im 18 years old, and i still have cards my mom got from my baby shower. i save ALL of my cards, i have a shoe box i keep all of my holiday cards in from my family. some might call me a pack-rat, but the way i see it, even if the cards are from family or friends, so much happens in one's lifetime that i dont know how long these people will be around, and if anything i would like to have closure on the fact that they were there at one time.

I wouldn't call you a pack rat, you're just carrying on a tradition that your mom sought to be important.

i love to keep all the cards i received on any occasions like birthday, new year, or any other special cards. i may be crazy to you because you don't keep all those cards. it's okay that nobody is going to ask where is my card that i had given on so and so birthday. but still i have to honor others because they do care for me. if someone don't like me then why on the earth he will give me cards on mine special occasions.

I'll keep a Christmas card if it had something in it, but you're right, out of the envelope and into the trash.

I wish I had the space to save some cards, just ones from people who I might not see again or ones that are particularly special. Cards are brilliant to look back on. Just recently I was doing a major clear out and found all my old wedding congratulation cards, and the ones from the birth of my first baby. They brought back so many memories. I had to bin most of them, but I've tucked a few away to look at in another 10 years!

I will save it for a while. If it's one of those double ones and there isn't any writing on the back of the part where the picture is on I'll recycle it. Just cut off the part with the writing and write your own message on the back. Stick it into an envelope and you'll have saved some money. Although I wouldn't recommend sending it to the same person you got it from.
