Graduates "advised" not to throw "Mortarboards" after Graduation!

The high school I went to didn't allow this either. I don't remember their reasoning for sure but I think it had something to do with not wanting to take the time to sort out the hats afterward, not wanting to hit the audience, and being "not necessary". Instead each class could choose their own form of fun at the end...ours sprayed silly string at each other, another tossed beach balls around, one just blew noisemakers.
