Can you DRAW?

Singapore

I like to believe that there is an artist in each and everyone of us. Ever tried to draw? Or paint? Or sculpt? I love trying to pretend I appreciate art. Well, I *can* appreciate it a little but if you ask me to create art, you are gonna be disappointed. For as long as I remember, I have always flunked my Arts subject and the one time I didn't fail was when the teacher decided to let everyone pass. You. Yes, you. Can you draw? Paint? Sculpt? Or create any form of art? (Making babies does not count! )

Yea...I think I am moderately good with my drawing skill. However, I can't draw without looking at any picture though. Unlike you, I always got the highest mark with my art classes . I love to do all sort of personalized stuff. Making souvenir for weddings, baptismal and birthdays. It was one of my sideline when I was studying in the University. I was once into cross-stitching too. Have several finished products either display or stacked up in my closet. Hmmm, why don't I try stitching one for you using your avatar.

Exactly baby. I don't know why people keep bullying me. You remember the new place I went to which I recommended you? People seem to hate me there. It is sad, I need another source of income now.

Is that why you always bully me? Just because you are better in Art? I don't really like my avatar that much...

Ask me to draw and you'll get shaky, squiggly lines. At least I'm going into the right line of work, working with children. They don't care what your art looks like because theirs looks like yours too. I've only created a handful of nice art and none of them were that great.

Hi There, I absoluteley love art. I can become entranced when I look at art. Everyone has their favourite type of art, but for me it is paintings. I tend to like paintings of nature, but almost any types of good paintings will grabe me. Unfortunately I cannot contribute to this world as anything more than an observer as I cannot do anything artistic! I can't paint, draw, sculpt...you name it! :( cheers,

I love your sentence that "there is an artist in each and everyone of us". You know what? When I was in grade one, I firmly believed that I had not talent on drawing. Art lessons were really disaster for me. I had a hard time in dealing with the drawing homework. Later I found my talent on drawing step by step. Actually I can do quite well on it. I am even responsible for the drawing part of any publication in our class! Now I still do something about art from time to time, but by using the computer.

Native Youth - This is one of my older works, maybe six years ago? It is done in pastels.
I discovered my "inner artist" when I was about fifty years old. I took a lifelong learning class called "Draw What You See" because I thought it might give me an outlet for my work related stress. I was amazed that what I drew was recognizable! Since then I have been working with pastels - I'm now in my mid-sixties. I don't have a huge amount of talent but I enjoy painting and am improving my technique. So my art has improved. I take a "Painting with Pastels" class about eighteen weeks a year. That provides the structure and discipline I need to keep painting. You can see some of my work on my profile page. The attached photo is of a painting in pastels which I did several years ago.

Yes, I can draw. Art classes were always my favorite classes in school. I love to paint too. Oh, and I love photography. The only part of art class I didn't like was pottery. I hate having my hands dirty. During pottery I would be at the sink washing my hands constantly. My youngest child seems to have the same problem with getting her hands dirty. She hates to have a speck of anything on her hands. The other 3 couldn't care less though!

Froggy Tadpole - Something I drew...it is a tadpole/frog...cute, eh?
I enjoy drawing...I wouldn't call myself very good at it, but I can draw cartoon type of sketches. I will attach a picture of a froggy/tadpole I drew here you can decide if i can draw, lol...I can opnly draw things that look like cartoons - I can't do the lifelike sketches so well. When I was a little girl, my grandma used to make us draw every time we saw her - she taught us to draw bunnies and grapes and trees. To this day I still remember that very vividly in my memory!

I can draw when the mood strikes me. I'm not much good with paint, but haven't tried much sculpting. I prefer textile arts, crocheting, embroidery, weaving, sewing, anything to do with yarn or fabric.

Grandma's dollhouse - I know it's hard to see, but I won't pull it out of the sleeve to photocopy it. And the batteries for the digital camera are dead, so I used my laptop's webcam. The picture is 14 years old.
I like to say I can draw blond hair with a black pencil. I can reproduce anything, and even resize it. One thing I cannot do is make it up; I have to be looking at the actual object or a photo of it. I can add color if needed, but it's a lot of extra work. One of my better pictures was a picture I did in the eighth grade...of the school. I went to a rural, two-room schoolhouse with thirty students (K-8). For years, the school's letterhead image for all correspondence was a picture drawn by a classmate's mother, initially for a cookbook. When I was in the eighth grade, my teacher asked me to draw a new picture for a yearbook, which would be presented to the superintendent. I spent the entire school day on a bench table out front. When I was finished, and handed my work to the teacher, she took it to the Xerox machine and started making copies. Copies were made for my mother and each of the faculty, then one for the yearbook. At least one more copy was made for the office as well, and it replaced Mrs. Toledo's cookbook drawing in the school letterhead. The superintendent would not get the original; it was placed in a cherry wood frame and auctioned off at Bingo night. I don't remember exactly how much the picture made, but I think it was just under $100. The Gentry family ended up with it. When I was a sophomore at Fremont Christian H.S., the art teacher wanted me in the class badly for some reason. She even said I could write new curricula myself. I said all the technique I knew was in my hand; I didn't know how to teach others. I never did join the class. Music is my greatest artistic interest, and I think I am more accomplished as a tenor than as a pencil artist. I get bored quickly with drawing, and usually only do it on request. As a result, I have practically none of my own work. The only original picture of mine in the family is that of my grandmother's dollhouse, which I did in '94. It took me three days to complete, and even that wasn't enough to make it perfect (I was only 15). It's not too bad though!

Not really; I tend to get rather shy when it comes to high flying. I'm in an album that was made for the United Way in '95, and I've done a few low-budget recordings here and there, but I'm not particularly interested in publicity. The most exposure I got in a short period of time was in '95. I was on TV roughly 30 times between two groups I was in; one a concert choir of about 60 people, and the other a men's octet. I was a regular soloist, so I got my kudos every now and then. I've met actor Fred Williamson, Senator Diane Feinstein, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Congressman John Stark, and the mayor of Fremont (when I was a resident). I've toured Washington, D.C., and led SATB quartets at three wineries in Livermore, CA for three years. Since then, I've performed pretty much exclusively at church and school. But I am seriously looking into the Stockton Chorale when I finish. I've already met the director, but I do plan on staying where I'm at until it's over.

No I can't draw but my husband and my 11 year old son can. My husband used to be really good at drawing but his hands are starting to get a little shaky. My sons drawins are getting better every time he does one.

Maybe he can try to draw "bigger" things? If details are not too important, then drawing may still be possible. But if drawing makes it worse, then of course, health is most important...
