For me, Kaspersky and Eset Nod32 would be the best anti viruses. Its one of the best and proven protection for spyware and viruses

As many have probably mentioned, Avast works wonders. I've had no problems with it since I've got it. It's on my laptop, my parents desk top, and my partner has it on her laptop! It's wonderful! And not to mention free! lol

I've heard good things about Avast. So far it is one of the top on my list.

AVG - free and perfectly capable. Work clients tend to use Norton by reputation. Personally i think its rep is crap.

AVG. Free? I'm thinking...can it be any good? But I think you are right Norton is not as good as all the hype. We've tried it and not gotten the results we had hoped with virus protection.

I use ESET NOD32 and I think its one of the best antiviruses available. The best feature of eset is its simplicity and effectiveness.

The free AVG 8 has a new feature that when you do a search the result links are verified. If its red you have to ignore it or proceed with caution. Its auto update and has a nice GUI.

i use AVG free edition. It doesn't consume somuch memory as other anti-virus. It is free. and finds and removes most of the viruses and worms.

Have you tried something like McAfee? I believe that they have a number of things to choose from. I always suggest a suite because you get a firewall and spam protection too. They have a free trial so you can see if it is what you need.

I have not used McAfee. The free trials will give you a diagnosis, but not a solution for the viruses. Also, some of the scans I've tried have not agreed with each other, so I am a bit wary of the sales tactics of some of the antivirus sites.

I use AVG and have used it for a few years now. Its free and it works pretty good. I won't say its the best out there but for a free antivirus its pretty darn good.
