Ford 4.9 Intake Manifold

I am replacing the Intake Manifold on a 96 Lincoln Towncar. The little metal pipe at the passenger side rear of the Plastic Manifold the coolant runs through came out. There is an O-Ring that I replaced, but it will NOT stay in the hole. Can somebody tell me whats really going on?

Is the end of the metal pipe flanged?
Is the inside of the hole that the pipe fits into threaded?
