Child obesity rates have reached a plateau in China, maybe other countries around the world, i guess. They love McDonalds and KFC, fried food, biscuits, ice cream~~~ Oh, so many high calroic food!! It's not only a genetic make-up, is it?

I think perhaps parents need to intervene & not give in to what their kids want so often.
If you treat your kids to take-out food, do it in moderation, make sure your kids are active & eat healthy otherwise, then there really wouldn't be such a problem with obese kids.
My daughter has a chocolate biscuit every now & then but more often than not, she's happy with some apple, a fruit stick or a snadwich. We rarely have take out - which is a plus to living in the country - but every so often we have take away but you'd be lucky if it was once a month.
Parents need to be more involved with their kids, take them out to be active, feed them right & avoid all the junk out there - if you can teach your kids about healthy eating & playing to stay healthy, then i think the problem would go away. The fast food companies also need to stop aiming their products at kids - if they stopped, the tempation wouldn't be there as much.

Hey, Gemmygirl, i totally agree with you, parents should intervene in this, and we also have to act moderately. We shouldn't forbid them from eating, cause other kids eat, if they don't, they may not know about the products and can't get into the discussion related to this.
I don't think fast food companies would like to stop aiming their products at kids for the time being. So parents do play a big part

wow...
thats scary...
but i think it is because that since fast food has just started their bussiness in singapore recently and the parents have never tried fast food since youung..
however, when they tried it, they like it and being parents, they want their kids to enjoy their childhood and thus allow the kids to eat fast food often.
so thats the result of the growing trends of child obesity.

Hey, raclie, i agree, parents a little older than me here in China will act that way. My elder sister take it a pleasant thing to take her kid to KFC, they think it's the wealth's diet, god!!
