Do you cook for yourself when you live alone?

Many people may live outside alone because of their jobs so that meals may become a problem to them. I once worked far away from home and lived alone. The local food there didn't suit my taste. So I chose to cook for myself and I found cooking is really interesting though at the beginning you may not do very well. By repeating practice, now I can cook some dishes very well. Sometiomes I had no choice bu to eat some fast food outside when the job was busy. Did you ever have such experience? If not you also can say something. Join and have a discussion!

Sure do! Unfortunately,You can't cook some dishes that you like to eat on Your own as the scale of preparation is too big for one,so I keep to simple meals like stirfries and pasta dishes... and I think this post makes my #600!

When I lived alone, I rarely cooked for myself. I'd fix simple things that I could microwave, or macaroni and cheese, sandwiches, etc, but I wouldn't really do anything you could call 'cooking'. I would still do something simple for myself rather than eat out, though. I would usually bring lunch to work too, and seldom buy lunch.

At the beginning of working,I had meals in snack shopping. It saved trouble,I think. But,as time went on,I found that it was unhealthful to us,and for a long time,it's bad for my body. So,I didn't want to eat outside.I started to cook,as you said ,I didn't skilled to cook .After some times,I could cook very well.Hehe Now,I know how to cook and how to match the dishes.I find that it's interesting to cook for myself. And I could cook what I like. It's good .

i am a student myself and I stay alone all by myself away from home, And honestly i don't like the food available outside so i prefer to cook it myself. I have my classes in the evening and sometimes it's very tiring but still i prefer to cook it myself even if takes me hours .I manage to cook just a simple ,rice and curry and I am having it for sometime now but i find it better then the street food or junk food we consume outside.

Before my current apartment I can cook but when I moved in here I no longer can because it's prohibited. I'm not a good cook but sometimes I like cooking though it's just fried stuff on my plate. Usually I buy ready made foods outside. Sometimes, I eat out and sometimes I take it out and dine in my room.

I can understand your feeling. I think fruit created by oneself is sweetest. Sometimes just a try can make your life meaningful and colorful!

When I lived alone when I was single, I liked cooking for myself. Everyday I went to the market after work, and then cooked at home for myself. I am interested in cooking, so it's not a problem for me. Now I enjoy cooking for my family much more. I love China

sometime people don't want to try some thing that they think another people can do that for them, but when they are alone and no body can be asked for help, they will be very confuse. and here is beginning of all, they will try so hard to fullfil their needs, from that hard afford we will get knowledge, although only cook for food, and our knowledge can be a great business. so don't you love something too over, someday probably u will hate it, and don't u hate too over cause someday probably u will love it

Thanks for your response! I quite agree with your point of view! Yes, it takes time and energy to learn a new thing though it is a trivial. But in the course of your try, you also get something useful and helpful for your future!

Yes i do cook for myself. Actually i learned to cook for myself at an early age - around 14 yrs old. My mom went abroad to work and my dad is in military so he's not at home most of the time; my siblings and i learned how to do household chores by ourselves. In college i studied far from home so i continued cooking for myself. Up until now that im working i still live far from home so i continue cooking for myself. I actually have become better at cooking, i can also do cooking from scratch. I know how to substitute ingredients and can pretty much follow any cookbook recipe.

If I stay alone, I will not cook except for instant noodle which only need boiling water to cook it. I enjoy eating outside as there are more choices and no dirty plates and cooking equipment waiting for me to clean up!

I live with a roommate, but we generally don't eat at the same times. I try to cook most nights. I normally eat sandwiches or hot dogs or something simple for lunch. Generally, night time is when I cook more. It depends on my schedule how many nights a week I cook. Usually it is 4-5. With the school year being over now it has been 5-6. My cooking definitly wasn't very good when i started. I have been getting a lot better though lately. That is part of the reason I have been cooking for myself more lately. The good thing about cooking for 1 is the leftovers. Most meals I make have at least one and sometimes 2 extra meals.
