I taught my child how to pray on the very first day he was born. Yes,this may sound weird to some but I have always believed that although a child could not talk yet or understand... the Lord has a way of implanting the prayers in his heart. And so as my baby grew and learned to talk, he got used to praying and would always prompt me during prayer time, whether be it before taking our meal, before going to bed, after waking up or even during special moments that need prayers. My child grew up to be a man with great respect and reverence to God and that is the best reward I have gained... I should say. How about you mothers, when did you teach your child how to pray and how did they respond??? Please share.

This dosen't sound strange to me at all. Are you aware that some asian countries teach the baby in the womb? I was expecting my youngest daughter when i learned this. I started reading to her when i was 5 mo. pg. She was always very talkitive. Did very good in school and is now in collage.

Yes, my husband and I definately spend time teaching our children how to pray. We pray with them every morning and every night before bed, and let them know that they can speak to God whenever and for whatever reason. We also teach our children how to repent on a daily basis. That is very important as well! Our children are growing up in the fear and admonition of the Lord Jesus Christ and they love to pray, praise, and give God all the glory!

No. Because I don't believe in god or religion.

I didnt for a few reasons..first off I dont pray myself (though I do meditate)...adn secondly its not nor has it ever been up to me to set my kids on any religious path...As they got older (they are both teens now) they asked their questions and I've answered them openly and honestly and given them all the resources they need....When the time is right they'll decide for themselves what, if any, religious path they want to be on and what that path will include be it prayer, meditation, ritutals etc etc

I was praying a lot when I was pregnant. And, my son was initiated into the process of praying right from the very beginning, In my home, my husband and I pray to different objects of worship, and our son prays to his own object of worship. But, he respects other religions and whenever possible, I take him to different places of worship. He has learnt to respect other faiths at a very early age, and today at the age of 8, our son has placed God at the centre of his life. We have never pressurised him to profess our faiths and we have left it to him to decide which faith to follow. Since he has seen members of his household praying to different images of the Almighty, our son knows it is most natural to follow different religions and different faiths. But, he knows, whatever be one's faith or the object of worship, what's important is to believe in the omnipresence of the Almighty.

Oh yes... I pray with him every night before bed and before all meals. He even tells us "pray" of he sees anyone eating anything. I think it is important to lay this foundation from an early age. My baby(17 months) says some of the words in the prayers now and always ends with "amen".
