Love and pain are two very different emotions. One cannot melt away the other. I think people are misled to think that pain melts the love away. It is the mind which tells the heart to not give another chance to someone who has hurt you badly because it is the logical thing to do. But that doesn't mean the love isn't there anymore. It's just that you are not willing to endure more pain anymore, or go through what you had to go through because of the pain caused by that person. A person does not function using the heart or brain only; they go together, whether we're aware of it or not. Especially when the heart cannot take it anymore; the mind takes over. And I think it's the mind's choice to avoid pain.
I hope that made sense. I hope this helps.

i believe in that so much..they said love can push away whatever pain you had in your heart..now i can tell that pain can over power love..once a heart had been torn apart into pieces you can definitely forget how much you love a person and stay away from that person so you would never feel the same pain again..it makes you hard as a stone as ever

Yes i do. Sometimes we fall out of love because of the pain brought by the one we love. If the pain continues in our everyday life, we tend to forgot the meaning of love as it grows into hatred.
On the other hand, love could melt the pain of the past if the one who brought us pain will love us the way we show our love.

i don't believe that pain could melt away the love. i believe love is a very strong thing, i doesn't just fade away, it takes time to disappear.
When you are in a great pain, you tend to suppress your love because of the pain. you begin to think with your head and not with your heart. but the love is still there. after some time, you will realize that you still love him/her. but you cannot pursue that love because it is too painful.
i also believe love always comes with pain.
