Is it best to leave a laptop plugged in all time, or use it unplugged then re-charge afterwards? guys do you think on this.

For me, last time when I first got my laptop and started using it, I normally leave it unplugged with the battery affixed to the laptop. Then one day when my friend borrowed my laptop and used it, he took out the battery but left the laptop unplugged. He told me that leaving the battery affixed in the laptop and having the laptop unplugged to the power socket is not good for the battery as it will shorten the lifespan of the battery. Since then, I used my laptop unplugged but without the battery (battery is kept elsewhere) at home. I only use the laptop with my battery whenever I go to somewhere without a power socket. I prefer not to use the battery and recharge because I read somewhere that as you charge a battery time and time again, more crystal deposits will form in the battery and hence less amount of battery will remain to be charged. This will make the battery capacity lower and lower as you charge it again and again. So I try to avoid using the battery if I can and rely mostly on the power sockets.

As far as I know the laptop have "auto switch". When you work with laptop using AC power plugin then will recharge your baterry. And when you baterry fully charge it will switch automatically to AC. When AC power unplugged it will switch automatically to DC (Baterry) power. CMIIW.

We always turn our laptop off when we're through with it 'cause it saves power.

i have done a bot of research and they experts told me that you should discharge the battery of your laptop frequently to the very end and then again recharge. it is recommened to recharge the full discharged battery with the laptop turned off. but if u do without that it is also fine. but they main thing is you should discharge it frequently and then charge if full. this does not allow the chemicals o the battery to dry up quickly.

Hey there I normally leave the laptop plugged in to keep the battery charged. Now I do unplug it occasionally and let the battery run down. to less than 10% charge. This keeps the battery fresh so that the charge will last the longest possible. Now I see someone mention they they removed the battery I would not recomend that 1 with the batter out and it not plugged in the laptop wont work

Either way works. Just keep the plug nearby incase the laptop warns you that it's about to run out of battery power. It's no fun to have your compuer crash on you when you're right in the middle of things.
