Dogs rescued from abuse, save their family from house fire

A Golden Retriever/Collie (mix) who was rescued (by her new owners?) from abuse, turned around and saved her owners lives, when she smelled smoke and jumped up on the bed barking. Then she and an even younger dog helped usher the family out, who all made it out alive, but the dogs didn't!
Even though the family tried and tried to get them out, and so did rescuers.. the family thinks they thought one of the children was still in the house.. It's a sad story because the dogs didn't make it, but heart warming just the same, as they did, through their loyalty save the family! So I posted this in the interest "friends".

Have you known any brave animals? Or had good animals as friends? Do you think animal abusers are waay pathetic?
