My daughter bought some foxgloves and planted them in the garden area where they will get sun most of the day. I have no experience with foxgloves and wonder how is the best way to grow them. I googled it and found out they are dangerous to cats and dogs as they are poisonous. I wonder if it would be a good idea to put chichen wire around them so the animals cannot get to them. Any suggestions?

When I grew foxgloves, I had them in the back of the border - they grow tall and it's a good place for them. I had them out of the way where the neighborhood kids wouldn't pick them. Or they couldn't get to themw ithout trampling half of my flowerbed. The dogs and cats didn't seem to mess with the flowers too much, and back then I guess I didn't worry too much since we had so few of them wandering around the area. They are a lovely flower. If I had little kids in my house that might be tempted to pick the pretty flowers, I wouldn't grow them anywhere within reach though.

That is an excellent idea to put them behind the border. Thank you for you suggestion.

What are foxgloves? Are they a type of flower? I'm not sure I've ever heard of them. I have heard of soemthing similar which is an ingredient in digatalis, the heart medication. That may be why it is dangerous.
