What is your 'motto' in life?

"Motto" is a brief or short statement used to express a goal or a priciple. I have a very simple motto that I use specially if I need a little encouragement to go on in times of difficulties. My motto is "P.U.S.H. = Pray Until Something Happens". I am a person who doesn't easily give up. I don't care how many times I try it, take it as long as I can prove that I can do it. But I always make sure that I do better than the last. What about you? Do you have a motto or a saying to live by? Please share to us. Thank you! Take care =)

My motto in life has been the same since I was in the 5th grade: Learn from your mistakes, and move on. Mrs. Sasso was my best teacher ever, and that motto has gotten me through some pretty tough mistakes relatively unscathed. Life is a series of mistakes, and it's all a learning experience.

My motto also matches with you dude.. "Learning from previous mistakes".. This is a key component behind any success. If Success directly comes to your hand before any failures.. then we will not be prepared what to handle it.

Thanks guys! We really should learn from our mistakes so that when we encounter that same situation or problem again, we know how to face it. I can say, the two of you care for your future very much since you don't want to commit the same mistake or neglegience in life. Thank you for responding. Take care

My goal in life is to be happy until the day I perish and to live a simple life. So I always ask myself, am I happy? How can I achieve happiness in my life? It that then that I heard and I applied to my life. "Be happy with everything that you have. If it's good, treasure it even how little it may be. If it's bad, take it as a blessing in disguise. Everything is a blessing, it just takes different form". Pretty long but I live by those words and... it makes me happy.

I have a business card on my desk right beside of my monitor. It reads CANI! Constant And Never-Ending Improvement. It is a good rememberance of a very inspiring seminar that I went to years ago. That guy was a great motivational speaker and gave out this cards.

I had this in my head during those years when I was still in collge, "Everybody gets what they deserve.." You can either look at it negatively or positively. If you failed, you deserved it for not studying hard enough. If you pass some of your subjects, you onviously deserved it from being attentive and listening in class. If somebody takes the credit from the work you did, you derved it for not having the initiative to claim it yourself but, for those who did bad things to you, they'll deserve something bad as well as time moves along. I don't know if you can call it being stoic but, that's just what I think as a motto up to now.

Well, you can use it in a way to boost your confidence or to push you when you need it. It is the same with "You reap what you sow". Anything that you have done today will certainly affect tomorrow. So if you studied today and tomorrow there will be a surprise test, for sure you'll have good remarks because you sow knowledge in your brain...so you'll reap good remarks. Thank you for responding. Take care

Thank you so much. I use my motto to remind me that Life is Good and whatever is happening has reasons. My motto "P.U.S.H." pushes me in many things especially when I need it. You're right, whatever God has created we need to see and taste its goodness. They are all for us and they are all good. Thank you for responding. Take care

I love your motto. I have never heard that one before. For me I have to say "Life is short." I know it is cliche but it's true. So many people spend an eternity waiting for something to happen when instead they should take a more active approach and make it happen.

Thank you. You are so right, "Life is short". There are so many people who are dependent on others, so reluctant, and lazy. Since life is short why not work hard and then enjoy what you have worked for. Don't just work work work...or play play play. Balance it...work then play. Live each day meaningfully and fruitfully. Thank you for responding. Happy life!!! Take care

education/life/maturity is a journey not a destination. Too many people that one day theu will achieve some sort of status. I don't. I think life is a journey, each day a new road apears and its up to me and only me to keep on moving down the right road for my life.

I typed a response and it seems to have disappeared. If two show up now, I'm sorry. I guess I've tried to remember this verse, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Phil 4:13. I discovered that verse when I was a teen and very shy and printed it out and put it in my pocket. It has been such a help to me. As an adult, I learned to speak in front of hundreds because I would put that verse in front of me on the podium. I've also tried to rejoice always. We don't have to rejoice and be happy BECAUSE of bad things in our lives, but we should rejoice IN them. I've learned that even the worst things in my life (and I've had many - almost homeless, an abusive relationship...) have resulted in some good or some valuable lesson.

"ALTRUISM IS THE BEST QUALITY" that is my motto and a quotation I made on my own... for those who are not aware of what altruism means it is defined as genuine care for others... I've been practically living my whole life under such a quotation without realizing it until I was in fourth year high school... it was that one word my adviser used to describe me that was really instilled in my heart and in my mind... some may contradict and say that we must think of ourselves before we think of others but for me I'm always ready to sacrifice myself for the sake of others but only if it is for a good cause... it is something innate in me... others may see me as the tough guy around the block but for those who really know me they see that one quality that is very difficult to see... others may say that it is just a defense mechanism but for me... it is as genuine as it was defined... and I will continue to live by it until I die...

That is a very nice virtue and attitude. Altruism is the opposite of "selfishness." 'A selfless concern for the welfare of others' is very difficult to do but if you really have a humble heart for the meek, I believe you are a good person. Thank you for sharing this 'word' and motto to us. You gave us a good inspiration and example to the readers or respondents of my topic. Thank you for responding. Take care
