So who or what do you blame for the soaring gas prices? Right now gas is about to hit $4 a gallon here in arkansas and that is crazy high considering just over a year ago it broke $2.25.
I think that is a combination of many things including non goverment regulation and over using along with limited drilling sites and import rates.
So what do you think?

Well, I would put a name to it but, I don't want to get the bashing brought down on my head so, I will simply stick with the broader scope and call it the government's fault.
I can only hope the government that got us into this current oil crisis/mess gets fixed starting in January! That is all I have to say about it!

I am pretty sure I get the drift of your underlying comment and I tottally agree, but as to will it be fixed, I think the goverment can help, but without serious strong arm tactics I am not sure they alone can fix it without the cooperation of other major players.

Here in the US...well, I mostly blame oil companies and their executives who HAVE been unfairly raising prices because they know they can and you HAVE to fill up. I think government regulation of the prices is needed. The price varies from city to city here. Still the cheapest place is Costco and because I have a van now I need the High Quality stuff so I'm paying $60-$70 every fill up.

I am kinda lucky where I live, see we have Muphy's here, they are subsidiary of Wal-Mart and get about 35% of their oil from FT. Smith AR, so the transportation cost is low. Murphy's is still mostly a down south thing though, although I bet if prices keep going up you will see them coming up at every Wal-Mart in the nation.

I wouldn't blame any particular person or country. This is a global phenominon. Oil is a basic commdity, and countries are interdependent for it.

Well i'm not from the US but i too think the oil is going nuts, We weren't as much affected as the people in the US as the € has been gainning on the $$ but still it's getting quite annoying when oil companies just keep getting more and more proffit.
I would seriously advise anyone to take advanatag of this by investing in the oil business, there's alot of oil out there the problem is most countrys put restrictions/high taxes which results in high prices.

I blame the high gas prices in the US on the US goverment. Not the current administration but previous administrations that have vetoed drilling. We have billions of barrels of oil under our soil and in our coastal waters but don't drill for it.
People are trying to change that by sending a petition to congress. you can join in by signing at this website:
www.americansolutions.com/drillnow
go sign it now and tell Congress that we're fed up with high gas prices.

I agree with what you said up above although the thing that gets me is that the oil companies continue to make record profits. Some things just arent right. They could at least show some support for the Amerian people instead of profittering.

I think it's the economy of the United States that is screwing things up. Dollars are worth next to nothing. Since crude is traded in USD it's not too hard to figure out that gas is going to go through the roof until the US economy gets back on track. Since the crisis with the mortgage companies started things are getting worse daily. It will take some time before the dollar gets back up there. Until then grit your teeth. It's gonna be a bumpy road.

Of course the government.
I'm in a gas-produce country,
but our gas price is raising to around 80% of gas price in US.
Why?
government raise gas price and earn from it,
then invest it into useless project.
