Maestro/Mastercard charges in US

I am aware that I can use my Maestro card to withdraw from ATMs, and pay in shops in the US. However, what is the typical charge that I can expect if I chose to do this (it would only be for emergencies I think).
Thanks.

You will have to check the terms of your credit card agreement. There is not only the ATM fee involved which can range here from $1.50 to even $6, but also a fee from your own card for making a foreign transaction, plus a fee for the conversation from $ to your currency, plus the terrible exchange rate to begin with, plus probably a cash advance fee as ATM withdrawals are considered cash advances. Those are hefty.
If you can use the ATM you can use it most likely in stores as well. Do you mean a Mastercard? At least you would avoid the ATM fee and the cash advance fee.
