I do, there is nothing I can do because he is acting weird. I want him to understand that it is not at all times that he is right. There are times that the boss also is not right. Well, I am not doing this if I am not reasoble. Once I have my right as most employee do, I would say want I want to say as long as I am right. Did you experience the same thing? Well, I know others would think it rude, or insubordination but I think.. it depends upon the situation. How do you handle things like this?

It does depend on the situation, and the boss needs to be mature enough to handle the fact that they are not always right. Sometimes they may need to sit and think about it for a minute, but if they are a smart person, then eventually they will come around to this realization. To answer your question, yes I have argued with my boss before. But only when they lied. That is one of my pet peeves. And if you lie and someone calls you out on it, then you should just admit it. Good luck to you, I hope it all works out!

I wish they do. I mean I wish bosses would act in a mature way to handle problems. sometimes they would think that since they are the boss, they are always right, and the employees would just follow whatever they want. I don't like it. thanks for the reply.

Oh I have a funny story about doing this. We were having a staff meeting and most know that I can stand up for what is right so they called me in my office and asked me to bring up a problem that was going on to our executive director. Of course none of them chimed in when I brought it up but anyway. I gave him my veiws he gave me his. We went back and forth and suddenly I was getting pains in my stomach (I was 4 months pregnant at the time) So I would say my point and as he would say his I would look at the clock because I was timing the pains. Of course I was still continuing the debate. He finally said why do you keep looking at the clock and still in a not so happy tone I said because I think I am in labor. Well that ended the debate and he gave in just to get me out of there and to the hospital. I gave him a really bad time later saying I should get workmans comp since he put me in labor. It was a joke for a long time. He and I may have had our disagreements but we did respect each other. It was a debate I will never forget and that was over 15 years ago.

I have experienced this a lot of times in the past. Well, I still do so with our new boss. Of course, all my reasons are valid. I do not like superiors who think that they can do just about anything just because they are in position. If I know that I am right, I wouldn't hesitate to stand my ground. Even if that means that I have to end up in an argument with my superior.

There are two rules at work. Rule # 1, the boss is always right. Rule # 2, always go to rule # 1 if you feel like shouting at the boss knowing that he is not right. Keep your cool, wait till the tension subsides then bring up the issue once both of you are ready to talk about it. This way insubordination will be ruled out.
