Have you ever had a near-death experience?

This is something that I started thinking about for some time now. Is everything we see on TV relating people being close to death who see "the light" and change after this experience, true or something made up. It's really fascinating to know the real extent of life and to know if death is really an end or merely a beginning. I would like to know your opinion on near-death experiences but I would very much want to hear it from people who really went through it. What exactly is it that is happening?
