Yea that's right, My bill 40.00 less than last month.
Last month I decided to really start being a screwge with my power usage.I made sure everything was unplugged when not in use.No lights were left on unessesarily,
about half of my bulbs have been replaced with the new energy saving ones.I plan to get them all replaced as soon as possible. But for now I have the new ones in the lights we use most.My computer is shut down and unplugged when not in use at all times, and so is the tv.We use the central heat and air as little as possible, only on a have to basis, otherwise we wear more or less clothing.
I have nagged my husband so much about these things, that now he does them automaticly,so I never catch him wasting energy. If I slip up he will catch me and fuss.I love it!

Great job! Between the husband and kids lights are always on here. Right now 2 computers are being used and the television is on with no one watching. I think I will shut that off now, thanks for the tip!

If I had kids at home I would offer them a reward for helping save money on the light bill.If they helped save 20.00 for example.I would make sure they got rewarded for the equal amount in some way.It doesn't take long to get them used to the idea, and then good habbits form.

Good for you!
I've been doing the same. Our income has just been cut dramatically, so I'm having to come up with ways to decrease everything that isn't a fixed expense.
I don't completely shut off my computer, but I do put it in standby mode now, I turn off the coffeepot so that it doesn't keep water heated all day for nothing, and I unplug the microwave except when I'm using it, because it uses up a small bit of electricity just to keep the clock running.
It's hard to tell how much I've really saved this month because I was using spacing heaters before, but I'm sure it's helping a little. It will no doubt go up next month as I start using the air condition some, but I do everything I can to conserve.
I've got a blog (link on my profile) that lists several ways to save.

Wow that's great news. I wish I could do the same. We really have to think of terrific ideas on how to lower utility bills. I have become conscious of unplugging appliances that are not in use. Thanks to you, I am reminded to replace my light bulbs with energy saving ones. THanks!

I try really hard to save energry. My mother and my grandmother are always turning on the lights when it's day which really gets me pissed off. I mean why do you need to turn on the lights if it's 10:00 in the morning? I try to turn them when they turn them on. We don't really have too much plugged in . When I have charged my laptop enough I take off the plug but later on I have to put it back in because the battery runs low pretty quickly. My sister and brother do the same thing and they just leave the lights on. The tv is on almost the whole day and at night when we go to sleep the cable box is still on because my mother needs the time when she wakes up. So the best I can do is turn of the lights when not in use.

Well done. Although 40 bucks to some people doesn't seem to be a lot of money but to me it is soooo much. I save on energy as much as I can. During the winter I never leave the heating on when I know that I won't be home for several hours. Some peope say that this way I actually spend more moeny because then when I come back I have to heat the whole house all over again, but I know that I get electric bill 2 or 3 times smaller than most of the people I know. here where I live winters are not very cold, we have maybe 10 or 15 really cold days in winter so although I heat the house every day, I almost never put the heater on maximum. I have so many friends who walk in short sleevs in their apartments and then when the electricity bill arrives then they whine that they don't have that much money and that the state is crazy to rise the prices so much. If the were thinking about it when they were in short sleeves I am sure that the bill wouldn't be so high.
I have this friend who moved from her parents and started living alone, as I dont live ith my parents for so many years, I know how I feel when the bills come so I told her that if she kept heating that much and waisting energy she'd need to borrow money at the end of the winter to pay the bills. She didn't believe me and she laught when I said that when I am cold I don't heat more but I put a pullover. Two months after that she showed me her bills and they were triple from what we got for this winter, and she lives alone while there are 3 people in my house and we have 2 more rooms than she does. We live in the sam ezone and same company provides electricity for us. At the end she asked me to borrow here 300$ to be able to pay the bills.
I never leave the lights on when I am not in the room, my tv is never on when nobody is watching it,all of my bulbs are those that save energy, and I don't find it difficult to get up and turn off the light if I see that someone had left it on end left.
Keep saving, it seems difficult but its not!And the best feeling is when the bill arrives and you actually see how much you saved from last month.
