Are you the same mylotter you were 6 months ago?

I recently posted a "rant" in which I said "if you don't like me, remove me". One of my friends commented that 6 months ago, I wouldn't have said that. It got me to thinking that she was probably right and that I have developed a "mylot" skin. I've learned to roll with the punches and not take it all so seriously. Whereas 6 months ago I would have been considered sensitive in my reaction to people's comments for the most part now, I just don't give a rats patootie. So what about you, do you think that you are the same mylotter that you were 6 months ago?

You have to admit though, the money is an awful nice incentive.

I am new to MYLOT, I reckon I'll find good friends here and a good circle as a whole.

"rats patootie" That is hilarious, I have never heard that one before!! I am not sure if I have changed any since being on myLot, I have only been here a few months though so may need a bit more time on here to see if I have changed or not!!

Glad I could give you a smile. I'm surprised you've only been here a few months. You sure have done alot of posting and responding judging by your numbers. I've been here a year and don't have nearly what you do. Although my time here has been intermittent.

I think so, I think its because I'm pretty set in my ways now. I think if mylot had been around when I was younger, I might've been more sensitive.

I guess its because I'm pretty cynical. I don't expect the best from people, that way I'm pleasently surprised when they show it.

I was very sensitive when I first started, but I don't let things get to me like I used to. Its good that you were able to maintain the same sensitivities the whole time you've been on the site.

Considering I have been here 7 months I probably am but I felt like your post"if you don't like me,remove me" from the beginning it has been hard for me here and I don't feel like I really no anyone so Why should I care what others think of me.I don't really have any special friends yet and I post mostly off of my friends list, most have never even responded to even one of my disscusions OhWell!!!Have a great night.

I've been lucky, I've developed some good friendships here. Unfortunately, I will probably never meet them because of the distance between us, but we communicate through email, not just mylot. I have over 20 pages of friends and probably only a page or two respond regularly to everything I post.

There is a seductive quality to this site Katherine that affects us all eventually. We begin tentatively, wanting to be accepted, make some money and for whatever other reasons we joined. But as time goes on and we develop our comfort zones of what makes us comfortable here and what to avoid, and especially the circle of friends we develop, our participation changes. We post more, or less, or whatever we find time for. We care less about what 'others' think, or our place in the ratings system. We come out of our shells and post more securely within our opinions. And it is our friends that we see on our threads consistently, and the resulting relationships with them we may develop off site, that gives us the freedom to be more and more ourselves. So being a happy and productive user here is a process - but it is the connections we make that move that process along in a liberating and positive way. There is no substitute for the power of friendship.

I'm pretty much the same way. I wasn't so outspoken when I first started here. It didn't take me long however to say what I felt without really minding what other people thought of me and my posts. I think you just get used to it and don't care anymore, not after awhile anyway.

I think you are right. You might as well say what you want to because otherwise people are going to read between the lines. Why not set the record straight right from the beginning?

I don't think so. Just like you...maybe not 6 months ago...but back when I first started I would get sensitive about things and have days when I didn't want to read responses because I didn't think I could handle anymore backlash...Now eh, I may not like what's being said, I may not deserve what's being said but it doesn't 'hurt'. A year ago I felt horrible when my star dropped that one little point that put me back to a red star...A few months ago I went from a 97 to a 98 and then down to 96 in a matter of three days. I'd still like my 98 back (or higher) but it's not a big issue. Back when I started I kept to myself more...I wanted to stick up for friends but was afraid of being attacked if I did...now, I'll stick up for them for as long as it takes and if I take a hit for it oh well.

I have felt exactly the same way in the past, but I think taking a hit once in awhile really helps to give you some perspective, at least it did for me.

It is nice to have made friends here on this site. Often I use a few to vent to when I have no one at home I can talk with.

In many ways I feel I am the same type of mylotter - I still try to be honest, to see points from all angles, look for the good in people, be respectful and tolerant , support my friends etc but I think that as humans we all are constantly changing, adapting and evolving so none of us stay stagnant as a person. xxx

hi kb i havent been here but about four months but I have learned to be a bit tougher skinned due to the star crap and the troll minusing bit I was hurt to tears several times but like you just said I also do not give a "rats patootie" I am used to my silver seven and am still the same person' I was at star ten so what the heck anyway, i am still 'having fun on mylot and the friendship and caring and sharing are most of the reason I am here plus I can use the extra money. I have changed a lot.

Sometimes Hatley, I think it takes being taken down a peg or two to give us a new perspective. I'm glad it happened to me.

I wasn't on MyLot 6 months ago but I posted a similar rant on Yuwie and another one later on Big Crumbs. The Yuwie one had to do with the snitching situation and the Big Crumbs one had to do with the spam count they had on there temporarily. I don't know if anybody actually deleted me though. Anyway so I can't directly answer your question because I've only been on here since March, but I do know that it really bugs me to be misunderstood, so I would go a little far (maybe) to clear up a misunderstanding. And if somebody I was close to deleted me, I might feel a bit hurt, otherwise not. I don't think I'm the same person as I was 6 months ago, nothing to do with MyLot though.

Thats a good point, since everyone stopped fighting with the trolls, things have calmed down alot. All they wanted was the attention apparently.

well six months ago I was on a hiatus from my lot, I wasn't here I had taken a break, but when I first came I answered anybody and everybody hoping somebody would answer me back, now if I work so hard to answer somebody's stuff and and they never comment on anything of mine (of course you are one of the people who comment all the time so this is not addressed to you) I delete them.

My earnings have decreased. Only because I have less time to spend here. I think when you start though it takes a while to get into the groove of things.

Well six months ago I wasn't a myLotter! However, I would say that I am more comfortable now than I was then. I have developed strong friendships and I have learned where I can go safely and where it might be wiser for me to avoid straying. For a variety of reasons I don't handle confrontation very well and one ill placed word can drown me in self-doubt. I view myLot as part of my rehabilitation towards a normal life again. However, it is a fragile thing, and whilst I would say that I am addicted, I consider leaving here every single day. But what would I do for daytime friends then?

I understand that and I think I was where you were even a couple of months ago, maybe even less than that, but after hurdling through some ups and downs recently I've learned that I just don't care anymore. I too, have thought about leaving quite often, but just can't bring myself to do it.
